I had no wanting to watch a movie like this at all. A 21 year old guy going into a movie theater full of young girls to watch a Nancy Drew movie just sounds wrong. But I was literally dragged to the movie theater by a few girls I know and they deceived me by all buying tickets for this movie instead of Spiderman 3, which I thought I was going to see for a second time. I'm still upset about that; thinking about it right now is making me upset. But I have to say... for being a movie aimed at young girls and families, I semi enjoyed it.

Plot: Young detective Nancy Drew travels to Los Angles where her father has just been offered a new job. When she finds out the house she's living in is enshrouded in mystery, her super sleuth skills are put to the test.

Lets start off with the basics first. Directing, dialog, storyline, and action all well done. The actress who plays Nancy Drew, Emma Roberts, does a great job of capturing who Nancy Drew really is. At least that's how it seems from the limited amount of the Nancy Drew books I have read. Some of the scenes are little cheesy, but they fit in with the family theme. I was also surprised at how many humorous parts there were. I found myself actually laughing out loud at times. Not only that but, after about the first 20 minutes, the action picks up and you start trying to figure out the mystery right along with her. This movie is definitely aimed at younger girls, but it's a mystery the whole family will enjoy solving at the theater.

One last thing, look for the cameo by Bruce Willis, it's totally unexpected and hilarious.

MPAA Rating: PG (for mild violence, thematic elements and brief language)

Runtime: 1 hour 39 minutes

Rating(out of 10): 7.8

Haha, well I am assuming that it wasn't as bad as you first thought, right? My hubby had the same attitude...I don't need to see that movie, but he enjoyed it :)

LOL. I must trick my boys into going. They definately do not want to see this one. I think I'd like it, because I read the books when I was a kid.

Glad you sorta enjoyed it after all! I would like to see it since it was a childhood favorite for me, but I don't think my hubby and 2 boys would go for it. I'll have to wait for DVD:)

Awww Your many chicks dragged you to the theater. I guess it's better than being dragged to a cosmetics store (for you anyway).
