The Verdict: If you're expecting these to taste like the original Oreo cookie you're going to be disappointed.
About Cakesters: Cakesters are a new product in the Oreo cookie family. They look like the original Oreo cookie except are slightly larger and are cakelike on the outside instead of hard cookie. There are two varieties - one with the original vanilla creme in the center and one with chocolate creme. A box of Cakesters contains 12 cakes (6 individually wrapped packages of 2 cakes each) is about $3.50.
My Experience: For the last 2 weeks I've been seeing commercials for these Cakesters and they sounded kind of good so Friday I picked up a box while I was at Walgreen's. A few hours after dinner I poured two glasses of milk for hubby and me and broke out the Cakesters. I was first surprised at how small they were. They are only slightly larger than a regular Oreo and looked like tiny whoopie pies. Cakey on the outside with white cream between the two layers of cake. I was then surprised to find that the Cakesters taste nothing like an Oreo cookie. They taste like less than average chocolate cake with white cream in the middle. Not rich and chocolatey like an Oreo and I didn't require even half the milk I usually need to enjoy with an Oreo.
Final Thoughts: These are not nearly as chocolatey and flavorful as the original Oreo cookie and are quite expensive for only 12 cakes. I had high hopes but was very disappointed.
