I have uneven skin that needs a good foundation.  It's hard to find one that lasts all day, but one trick I've learned is to add loose powder over the foundation to even out the look and "set" the foundation better.  I've tried the more expensive brands, which all work fine, but out of sheer cheapness decided to try the NYC brand.  It works just as well as the other, higher-priced brands.  My only complaint is that it comes with a foam rubber circlular applicator that holds too much powder.  Make a one-time investment in a good, dense powder applicator brush and you've got all that you need for expert application.

This was my first (and last) time buying a loose face powder. I had no idea that it would be so, well, loose! I can't open the lid without particles of it floating up in the air, anything I do with it leaves bits of it floating around. I don't use it because I can't imagine it's good for me to be breathing the specks of it. It gets all over the sink. I see in other product photos there's a little sponge pad that comes with it, mine either didn't come with it or I found it so useless I threw it out. Probably the second is true. I tried using a big soft brush, and again that just stirred everything up. Ick!

Unfortunately I can't even say it worked for me once I got it on my face. There wasn't much of a color selection, I went with naturally beige and now I wish I'd gotten translucent, the beige has a weird yellow tone to it once it's on my skin. The powder sort of clung to any facial fuzz/light hairs and worked to highlight them. The couple times I tried putting it on, I ended up washing my face and starting over with the makeup routine. Maybe if it's mixed with a lotion so it can be controlled and blended with another color so it matches my skin tone better it will be usable. I haven't tried that yet.

NYC powder

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

If you want a cheap powder to go over a liquid foundation, this is your product to use! It gives a smooth natural look and it doesn't take much to do so. One tub of this can last me a month or two! The only downfall is that it does rub off kinda easy. I started applying it when my liquid foundation was still a little bit wet and that's the only way I can get it to stay and not rub off as easily.its easy to get a lot of the brush and you can waste a lot that way. You can also get like a splotchy look if you don't apply evenly. The powder doesn't smell that great either. It's not horrid but it isn't the worst. I've smelled worst make up products before.you also want to make sure you match the powder to your skin tone or you're going to look very silly. It does make me break out when I don't wash my face the night it is put on or if I put too much on. Always make sure to wash your face and get it all out of your pores.

Depends

By

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

I love NYX and the quality of makeup with a small price tag. I have only tried the eye shadows and i thought it was time to try out their other products. This face powder is inexpensive and i think nicely packaged. The container is very similar to many high end brands and I do not find it to spill much easier than any other packaging. If you're not careful with it it will just spill everywhere. My low rating goes to the quality of the powder. i found that it looked very powdery on my skin. This might be better for those with oily or normal skin. The smell is not over powering but it does have that cheap makeup smell to it that might bug a lot of people. This is inexpensive and you get what you pay for. It's not terrible but it's not the best.

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder was unusable for me.

N.Y.C. Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - not impressed

By

from Mulvane, KS

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

I purchased this N.Y.C. Smooth Skin Loose Face Powderwhen I ran out of my usual (e.l.f. Mineral Foundation).  I was hopeful because this container was much bigger at 20g.  The price was also very affordable (at least at Target).  I purchased the Translucent color, because I am very fair skinned and most often have to go with the lightest color in makeup.  I'm now wishing I had gone at least one shade darker, as this powder shade washes me out and makes me look even paler.  The coverage is nice once it goes on, but I hate the packaging.  Before the second time I used it, I accidentally dropped the container on the ground.  Thinking it would be okay because the applicator sponge was still inside, I righted it and opened the lid only to have powder fall out everywhere and note that the whole top tray was filled with powder.  VERY poor design.  There is also a slight fragrance to the powder which is not overbearing, but simply a nuissance to me.  Once this runs out I will definitely be going back to the e.l.f Minerals.

NYC Loose face powder is cheap in more ways that one

By

from San Jose, CA

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

You are paying for quality here, and since this product is cheap you are paying for cheap quality. This is a thrifty imitation of Bare Essentials powder makeup and it falls very short. It is like applying a loose veil of powder over your face that does nothing except make it look like you are wearing a shit-ton of makeup and in dire need of a good moisturizer!

L.Y.C. face powder is a great product!

By

from Tulsa, OK

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

I have several very dark age spots on my face, so I use a heavy cream concealer, then I brush N.Y.C. loose face powder over the concealer to "set it" and it never smudges, even if I perspire! I have used it for many years, and recommend it to all my friends. This is a great product for the money.

As good as CoverGirl

By

from Lynnville, TN

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

I love NYC make up and beauty products. I used to use Cover girl and noticed that NYC was a little cheaper and so I decided to try it out. It is just as good. I actually like this a lot better than any other brand I have used. IT doesnt clump around your nose and the pads are thin enough to fold and run under your eyes and around your nose. I really like this and would recomend it to anyone.

Good produce for a great price

By

from Largo, FL

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

This product is one I use regularly, as well as their pressed powder. It comes at a very reasonable price and is generally easy to find in both discount and grocery stores. I especially like the variety of colors that is offered by this specific company. Many companies have only very light color choices or very dark color choices, but not too many options in-between, especially the tan or bronze colors that I look for. NYC offers colors that are close to my own color palette and ones that compliment my skin tone. They also are not full of oil which can lead to break-outs. The loose powder is nice as it does not feel as heavy as the pressed powder and feels light and airy on your face as long as you don't over-do. With any powder you can end up with that mannequin look if you aren't careful, but with NYC loose powder and a light hand, the look is natural and light, while covering imperfections at the same time! I recommend it!

love nyc makeup period,

By

from Canton, MI

Comments about NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder - All Shades:

I believe that NYC Makeup has good quality period, I buy it all the time when I can, It doesnt give that chalky feeling when wearing it. The overall quality of the loose powder is amazing, It does not wear off easily. I will continue to wear it all the time. The price is affordable, compared to other makeup products. They have all shades for all skin types. I reccomend it to all my friends and family especiall those who are paying for the more expensive stuff that so called "works" and "is long lasting". NYC also has good quantity for the price. When I was looking for a good powdered make up I tried everything, from the cheapest of cheap and expensive, it took a while to find a product that worked for me. Nyc has everything I have ever wanted in a powder, not to mention all the other products that they have to offer. So for everybody looking for make up that they can afford and works for them I reccommend NYC Loose Powder make up and all their other products that they have to offer. I think that whatever new they have to put out I will always try it. No matter what it is.
