Spout and handles only OK

3

The nipple/spout on this cup is slanted on one side, which made it difficult for my baby to latch onto it when first learning how to drink from a cup. This produce is touted as baby's first cup, but I don't believe that this nipple shape is effective at helping baby transition from breast (or even bottle) to cup.

NIK graduates is a great first sippy cup

4

I am a busy mother of three small children. I used these sippy cups with all my children when they first transitioned from a bottle to a cup. There are several reasons that these cups are great. First, because they are short with the hand grips on each side it makes for an easier transition from the bottle. When your child is first starting to use the sippy cup it takes a little time to figure how to manuver the cup themselves and with the taller cups it takes longer to get the liquid to the mouth. Second, this cup comes with a spicket you plug into the top of the cup making it spill proof. While many cups say they are spill proof this one actually is. Third, these are dishwasher safe, pull apart the spicket from the lid and they wash without damage. The other thing I really like is that they are quality cups that hold up to long term use and the come in gender neutral colors. I have been able to use the same sippy cups with all three children.

Great first cup!

Purchased this cup for my little boy to get him started on a sippy.  These cups work great and don't leak.  We also have some "spill proof" cups with straws but when they're left out the cup warms and the liquid leaks out through the straw.  This cup is perfect, my little boy can leave it on the floor and there is never a leak!  The handles make it easy for him to hold and the smaller size makes it so that it's never too heavy for him to lift up even when full of milk or juice.  The valve is a simple one piece that removes quickly for cleaning, I've never had it pop out though.. even when my son drops the cup from his high chair.  The spout and handles are rubberized and my son likes to chew on these, so I think they help with teething as well.  The cup holds the perfect amount or milk or juice and the valve works well so my son doesn't get frustrated that he's not getting enough liquid.  This is just a perfect cup, though I think I'd like it better if it had some sort of cover so I didn't have to worry about the spout getting dirty when I put it in a bag to take out with us, but a cover might get lost easily anyway.

My son's favorite sippy cup so far

5

Maybe it's being anal retentive, maybe its OCD, however, if its one thing I can't stand with a sippy cup, it's when you screw the lid on and no matter what you do, you can never get the spout to line up in the middle. Either you know exactly what I'm talking about or you think I'm crazy (or both). Anyway, the Gerber Graduates beginners sippy cup has no such issue. It always lines up fine which allows baby to hold this stead with both hands rather than having to drink this one handed from an odd angle. The flow in this particular cup runs smooth and steady. I have no problems with leaks or messes. Whenever I give my son juice this seems to be his go to cup. Some of the others he tosses on the floor if he happens to get frustrated when little or nothing comes out of it. These sippy cups are pretty sturdy and are dishwasher safe wash after wash. I like the cute colors and designs they have. They have designs tailored for girls, boys, and even unisex designs. Definitely recommend this for anyone with a toddler.

It leaks a lot

I bought this sippy cup for my son and was very disappointed.  It claims to be leak proof but leaked a lot.  Every time he threw it from his high chair, it leaked on the floor.  I never trusted it to go in the diaper bag because it leaked so much. It did have a good shape and was easy for my 6 month old to hold.  Unfortunately, the leakage was such a problem that I bought another brand of sippy cup.  I have 3 kids and have not used Gerber sippy cups since.  Do not waste your money on this cup.  You will likely be disappointed.

Great spillproof cup!

5

I bought several of these cups once my son was aquainted with using a sippy cup. (The first cups I gave him were valveless soft-topped cups, but they aren't spill proof!) They are great and keep the liquids where they belong- IN THE CUP! If other reviewers have problems with the valves popping out, maybe they need to replace the valves? Gerber does make and sell packs of replacement valves. We've never had an issue with this particular Gerber cup. My son likes these, but now that he is old enough to recognize the cartoon characters he sees on TV, he often requests one of those cups instead. Luckily, I have another baby who can use them now! The only thing I don't like about them is that the lids can be difficult to clean. If you're like me, and sometimes discover a cup under your car seat, or in a corner with toys, and it's been sitting there a while, it's always gross to open the cup b/c the smell is awful! yuck! There are all those crevices in the cup lids, so I usually soak them and then scrub with a bottle scrubber. I would gladly pay more for these cups over cheaper ones.

Okay if handled gently

This is a good cup for the most part, it is spill proof until it is dropped hard. The plug has a tendency to pop off and before you know it your kid is dripping juice all over the floor. Good concept, but plug needs to be a little snugger! However, it is one of the more durable CUPS we've had. I like that the handles are not connected to the lid- they are easy to grip for children and allow you to unscrew the lid without handles in the way- also make it less likely that your children are going to accidently unscrew the lid. The downside to these cups however is that not many cupholders are made to fit cups with handles on the bottom- guess you can't have it all! A huge plus is that these cups are see-through and you can see what your child is drinking (just in case they pick up that cup of day old milk from behind the couch! Ha) and you know how much is left/etc. They clean up well and are all in all, a good value.

as a new mom i work hard at learning everything and getting a lot of information from my friends and family with kids of what to use and what work best or whichever the situation is i look to them for advice, and of course go my own way and try to learn the easy or hard way and pick up things i think would be great for my little one. . and i must say I love this sippy cup for my son, i have not had any problems with it at all. we have had this sippy cup for about a year or longer now and it still closes and still doesnt leak like some other sippy cups i have bought. My child loves them its easy for him to handle it and carry it everywhere. he likes to chew on the handles sometimes but to me it is an outstanding sippy and i one i would definatly tell other moms and new moms to use. it doenst leak at all and is easy to clean i enjoy it and i love it! recommended to others to use for thier kids.

Perfect sippy for tiny hands!

4

This was the perfect sippy cup for my son. He started using a sippy when he was about three months old. The soft tip spout made it easy for him to latch onto. The handles were easy for him to grip to help me hold the cup for him at first. I liked the clear view in so I could see how much was in there and if it was tilted upwards enough so that the liquid filled into the spout. When he started using the sippy himself, it was easy for him to hold and tilt. He still liked the soft spout. I think it helped him from going to the sippy cup from a bottle, it seemed more natural to him. They hold up well with washing, but the groves on the inside spout are hard to clean. It takes some soaking and some scrubbing with tiny items such as q-tips to get all the grime out, even if you wash the cup immediately, it builds up. I felt that it wasn't as sanitary as it could have been. The cup held up well with being tossed about. They don't crack or shatter very easily. Overall, we really enjoyed the **Gerber Soft Starter Spill-Proof Cup.**

Likes up to it's Spill proof word

This was the first training (sippy cup) I purchased for my daughter. I selected it for  several reasons. Number 1- It was spill-proof with removable valve.  Number 2- it was bright and colorful. Number 3 - it was babies as young as 7 months.  Number 4 - the little handIes were small enough for her to grip and hold the cup by herself. I like this cup and my daughter likes it (She is stilll using her cups.  The spout is soft  but sturdy. Once my daughter's teeth came in she often chews on the spout to sooth her itching gums. The spout is sturdy enough to hold up to the constant chewing and gnawing. The cup is truly spill proof. I have experienced any leaking from the rim or the spout.  The removable valve inside the cup makes clean-up easy.  With all of the other positive attributes of this cup, it has the added bonus of  coming in at least four color combos. I like the bright and fun color choices. You  can purchase an individual cup or you can purchase a pack with two cups. I would recommend the two pack because your baby needs more than one cup.  I recommend this a a great beginner cup.
