Washington Mutual (formerly Providian) offered a credit card to its customers via a statement insert. When I went to their web site to apply, they had changed the terms and conditions in a very material way. When I called to ask about the discrepancy, no one could give me a straight answer, the people I spoke to spoke an English almost unintelligible and they were in Texas, and their correspondence department never responded to my inquiry.
Shortly thereafter, I received the same offer from MyPoints. Even with a long customer history at Washington Mutual and excellent credit, I was offered a ridiculously low credit line, my credit burearu scores were lowered with a frivolous inquiry, and they refused to re-visit the subject, even though I offered to document my request.
