MySpace.com —

Myspace.com is a great social-networking site.  I love it....but there's a growing problem that I see.  There are a lot of young children with myspace accounts.  I'm sure most of them lie about their age so they are able to open up the account.  Of course monitoring our kids starts at home but myspace should do more to prevent kids from being able to setup accounts.  I've seen several kids on tv who were abducted or almost abducted from someone they met on myspace.  I think if the site and the parents of those children are held responsible we wouldn't see so many incident like that.

I spoke with an associate of mine because I saw two of her kids had myspace accounts.  She didn't know they had them!!!  I was shocked.

Myspace needs to do a little more to help protect the children.

To the parents out there:  make sure you monitor your kids internet activity.  There are very sick people in this world and our kids need to be protected from them.

I agree with you mschante1979, there are a lot of children lying about their age on myspace. I think myspace is doing their part by providing customer service specifically for parents. They deal with any issues regarding child safety, cyberbully etc. you can call them and talk to them or email them as well. I think if you go to myspace.com and click on safety tips and there's a link for parents and educators, on the left hand side there's a link to contact myspace parent care. There's also some great information as well on that page for any parents concern about their children activity on myspace. Just like you, i recently found out about a friend of mine, who discover her 10yr old had a myspace... who knew...she was furious and contact myspace to remove her account immediately....that's how i found out the whole parent care team at myspace... like you said good for adults but not for children.
