My Points is an online shopping site that actually rewards you, the consumer, by shopping with their online affiliates.  Each member is awarded points for doing things you already do online such as online shopping, browsing, playing games, taking surveys, and even reading email!  Points are accumulated and redeemed whenever you choose for various gift certificates for online stores or local businesses.  It's your choice!

The Site

My Points has a very easy format and it is easy to use.  You first must register for an account.  Then you will see a "MyHome" link, Shop link and a Rewards link.  You will find all the latest news and deals on your MyHome link and this is an easy way to see which stores are offering double points, sweepstakes, and contests by MyPoints where you can earn additional points or prizes.

The pages load quickly and the site is easy to navigate.

Shopping

It is really easy to find a store or THE store you want to shop at on the site.  They have shops broken down into categories.  You will have a section called "Spotlight", Shop by Category (books, clothing, food, etc.) and last you have an alphabetical listing of all shops.  Once you find the store, you will see the details on how many points you can earn.  This will look something like 3 points per dollar but varies from store to store.  Also, some stores will have featured sales of up to 70% off.  These stores are usually listed in the Spotlight section.

Redeeming

This is my favorite part!  I love to get free stuff.  And gift certificates from stores and/or restaurants that I love and choose is a wonderful arrangement in my opinion.  The gift certificates are presented in values of $5.00 to $50.00 and you can redeem for the amount that you have enough points earned to match the value, for instance a $5.00 Starbuck gift certificate will cost you 800 points.  Not bad!  There are a ton of stores you can choose from too!

Quick Rundown on MyPoints -- My View

I have been a member of MyPoints for several years.  I have enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone.  In fact, referrals are another way to earn points!  I do an average amount of online shopping and at first it was hard to remember to shop through the site, but not I have that ironed out and it has become routine to check MyPoints first before ordering direct through another link.  I need my points!  I also participate in their email program.  I get a couple of emails a day and I earn points by visiting the website showcased in the email.  This is simple to do and you earn 5 points per click.  As you can see, it is really easy to earn points here and you receive your choice of gift certificate as a thank you.  I usually earn 2-3 certificates a year in the $25 or $50 range.  I love getting them in the mail and using them for more free shopping locally.  They have great affiliates and ones you will recognize like Gap, Old Navy and lots of restaurants to choose from too.

I highly recommend this website to anyone who does any amount of online shopping.  If you would like to become a member or check out the site, visit http://www.mypoints.com
You may as well be rewarded for your shopping, right?  It's easy...and it's free!  I give MyPoints 5 VP's!

I was going to write a review, but BayouBengal has covered it so much better than I ever would have. I have been a MyPoints member since June 13, 1998. I read their emails and click on the links to get points for reading the email. I take surveys and take advantage of some of their offers that appeal to me. I also have a MyPoints Visa card issued through WaMu that gives a point for each dollar spent, so if Iuse it to purchase something through MyPoints, I get another point in addition to the points I get from the purchase (and the card gives points for shipping & handling that MyPoints does not.) I have not found any site that I went through MyPoints to have sold my email address like a couple of reviews mentioned.. If you suppect that has happened, report it to MyPoints. Last September I cashed in points that I had collected since 2000 (I had not cashed in any since then) and got enough $50 gift cards to Circuit City that I purchased a DellAMDTurion 14" laptop with a 90Gb hard drive and 1Gb RAM. Also a Linksys wireless router, carrying case and a DVD player/recorder for my TV. There was enough left over that I got a wii controller for my nephew for Christmas. I recently did most of my Christmas shopping through MyPoints. As long as I remember to go through the MyPoints portal and use the same email address the MyPoints has on file, I have gotten the points. The points sometimes do not appear for a month or two when making purchases because the store has to report the purchase and there is a wait to make sure the merchaqndise was not returned. Don't expect immediate turn arround. My current total after cashing in 144000 points (7 years worth) is 27,418. I hope everyone has a happy holiday season (Chanukah, Christmas, Ramadan, Kwanza, Festivus, etc.) an a prosperous New Year!!!
