2003 was glorious for me as it was the year I bought a personal computer for my own home and also retired (which meant I had plenty of time to use the p.c., sometimes until the wee small hours of the morning). It wasn't long before I had discovered the thrill of online shopping and in due turn stumbled onto MyPoints.com.
MyPoints.com is a portal site, which means that you check in there first to gain access to merchants' online retail sites. You earn so many points for each dollar spent and occasionally there are special bonus point promotions on certain purchases. A MyPoints member also receives "bonus" e-mails which afford a chance to earn an extra five points just for "clicking through" the advertising e-mail whether you take the time to read it or not. These promotional e-mails made it possible for me to discover online retail websites I would have never known about otherwise -- Drugstore.com, Lancome.com, Office Depot, etc. -- and I even bought my cell phone and signed up for T-Mobile service because of MyPoints. (If it hadn't been for MyPoints, I would have never learned about ViewPoints!)
There have been occasional problems in the past with points being properly credited but MyPoints has improved their software and resolved a lot of these problems. They are also responsive to any complaints but I would suggest saving your e-mail order confirmations from participating merchants, just in case you need to provide them to MyPoints as ultimate proof of purchase.
Just by buying only what I needed or would have bought otherwise, I have earned enough points for twenty $50 gift cards. Even now that I have begun making some of my purchases through Ebates.com, I am still earning from my membership with MyPoints and probably will never abandon them.
