I have two boys ages seven and ten who constantly played with Little Tikes toys when they were younger.  To this day, I haven't found a more durable brand.  The toys took a serious beating by both of my children and they were virtually indestructible.  We still own several products today.  I have put together a list of my choices of three of the most durable Little Tikes products.

  1. Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest - This toy chest is appropriate for ages 2 and up and is currently selling for around $59.99.  It is available in pink and white and blue and white.  It may sound pricey but this toy chest is extremely durable and will last for many years.  We have already had ours for about nine years and it has been put through the ringer.  My boys have jumped on it and off it as well as used the top as a slide.  Their metal trucks have banged on the outside of the box and on the inside with no visible damage.  There are two removable dividers so you can separate and sort toys.  I love that the lid on this toy chest is removable because I never had to worry that one of my children was stuck inside or that the top slammed down on one their hands.  When this chest gets dirty, I just wipe it down with a damp sponge.
  2. Little Tikes Cozy Coupe - This classic kid-powered car is appropriate for ages 1 1/2 to 5 years old and is currently selling for around $49.99.  Again, this may sound pricey to some but your child and children after will get many years of use out of this plastic car.  It has a working horn and door that gives it a more realistic feeling.  As with the toy chest, we have had this car for around nine years and it has been through both of my boys.  They still have it out in the backyard and although weathered a bit, it is still fully functional.  The boys still use it to haul stuff around and for imaginative play.  Whenever this car gets too dirty, I just simply hose it down.
  3. Little Tikes Classic Rocking Horse - This brightly colored rocking horse is appropriate for ages 1 - 3 years of age and is currently selling for around $24.99.  Not a bad price for a very durable and classic toy.  I love that this toy is fully assembled and safely designed with a high seat back, easy-grip handles, and a low saddle.  It makes a great addition to a nursery or a toddler's room.  Because of its durability, it's also perfect for day care centers where it will get a lot of use.  I still have this rocking horse today and it is still getting use but not by my boys any longer.  My nephew who is three years old uses it every time he visits.

My Final Viewpoint...

The Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest, Cozy Coupe and Classic Rocking Horse are three of the most durable children's products that I have ever come across.  They are made to last and safety is definitely at the forefront of this manufacturers mind.  I recommend all three of these products and give them a very well deserved 5 star rating.

Great review and I know what you mean about toy boxes going through the ringer. We actually got snow once last year--the girls were eyeing the lid to the toy box before they remembered I had purchased some sleds earlier in the season.

We always had little tike growing up...our kitchen set went through 5 girls and my baby brother (now 20). In fact my oldest son has the football toy chest that was my husbands when he was a kid...it's almost 30 years old and still in great condition. All I had to do was wipe it down with some Clorox wipes and presto, almost new!

We had the slide to and you are absolutely right! My boys grew out of it in a flash too!

The Little Tikes toys held up to my boys (-: The only one that I would not buy again was the toddler slide. They outgrew that one in days.

Excellent review. The coupe is just too cool:) It makes me sad that mine are too big for it now but it has a good home.

That toy box is really big. I love it! It's not too babyish looking either so I'm still using it today for my 7 and 10 year old down in our family room.

I really need that toy box! The cozy coupe is such a great toy. My older son absolutely loved it. I can't wait for my new little guy to take a ride in it. Great review on all of these products.

It's nice to know that someone still makes toys that last.

I have the cozy coupe, and since i have girls you will find the the kitchens last a good long time too.

I'm familiar with that brand and they ARE durable. Might have to get the rocking horse for my 3 year old.
