Just saw My Sister's Keeper starring Cameron Diaz, Jason Patric, Abigail Breslin, Alec Baldwin and Joan Cuzak. What a fantastic little film, it was not my first choice, but as Transformers was sold out and we were escaping the heat we opter for this film.
The film is about a family's struggle with caring for a sick child who has cancer. Something I can personally relate to as the mother of a two medically needy children and a cancer survivor. The emotions are real and nothing in the story is over the top. The story gives the perspective of all of the family members involved, how they were before the diagnosis and how they have lived with the disease. Cameron Diaz and Jason Patric are realistic as parents struggling to keep their family afloat and positive. In my opinion the only thing missing from this family's struggle was a money/insurance battle.
Abigail Breslin serves as the child who was engineered to save her older sister. Alec Baldwin is the quirky lawyer whom she hires to achieve medical emancipation from her parents so that she can have a say in how her body parts are used to help her sister.
You'll have to watch this tale unfold to understand the simple twists of fate. Truly a heartwarming tale that really captures the struggles of a family going through medically complex cases. Bring your tissues and enjoy.
Not recommended for children 15 and under for mature situations and language.
