My Name is Earl Review Summary
Jason Lee stars as redneck and small time crook Earl Hickey who wins $100,000 in the lottery only to lose the winning ticket when he gets hit by a car in My Name is Earl, a comedy airing on NBC and available on DVD. While recovering from his accident, Earl decides he lost the money because karma finally caught up him after all his days of stealing and cheating. So, each episode, he takes off, with brother Randy, in search of someone he has wronged in the past in an attempt to right that sin and get karma back on his side. Comedy usually ensues, involving and often because of the company he keeps. Several of these folks seem to have come from the, er, shallow end of the gene pool. As one reviewer noted, "If the characters on this show were real people, they would all be on Jerry Springer at some point in their lives." Most of our reviewers find the show amusing, if shallow, "Deep, it's not. But, if you like to take a break from your week and laugh your butt off, My Name is Earl will help you do that" Some found it predicable, "After only a few episodes, it became extremely boring and predictable", but, on the other hand some felt, 'The humor is witty, and thoughtful, and much deeper than Earl's carnival-barker mustache would make you think." My Name is Earl boasts a strong ensemble cast, with Jaime Pressly winning an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series.

My name is earl is a great show that I've been watching since it first came out, I like the storyline, its earl going around making up for all the bad things hes done that he wrote on a list, he did this because he won the lottery but then a car hit him.While he was in hospital a show came on talking about karma and earl realized he needed to change.

I didn't think that I would like "My Name is Earl" for most of the first season, so I didn't watch it. Only after I had four friends individually recommended it did I actually tune in, and I was hooked. It's about a shady conman/crook from a trailer park, whose Name is Earl. The show, as you would expect, is shown from his perspective. Earl wins the lottery, but is immediately run over by a car, losing the winning ticket. This comedy show is not full of Ha-has or laugh tracks, but gives us situations that make us chuckle and also reflect on our own experiencs.

If the characters on this show were real people, they would all be on Jerry Springer at some point in their lives. That is what makes the show so funny. I know these people. Sometimes I am these people. The portrayal is not always flattering, but it is always funny!
I love the way the writers pay attention to detail, right down to the Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirts that Earl wears. Joy makes the show with her attitude and "oh, snap" catch phrase. Darrell is a nice contrast to the other characters with his education and culture, which of course none of the rest of the cast notices.

My Name is Earl is hysterical! There is such a plethura of Jerry Springer type characters on the show. What I love best is, Earl is trying to do the right thing & make up for previous wrongs.
If you have not seen this TV show then it's a must if you like comedy.
I promise you will laugh!
