The first film I ever saw with Sandra Bullock was While You Were Sleeping. This is a film that I grew up watching and is one of the many reasons I like her as an actress. She has a sweetness about her that I just love. I enjoy watching her in romantic comedies but she can also serve very well in dramas and thrillers. These are my favorite Sandra Bullock movies so far, with more to come, I'm sure. Hopefully you'll watch a couple and enjoy too.
1. While You Were Sleeping - Lucy, a young Chicago transit worker, escapes her lonely existence when she rescues a handsome commuter she has admired from afar, Peter, from the path of a speeding subway train. While Peter languishes in a coma, his concerned family mistakes Lucy for his fiancee and she goes along with the deception, enjoying a warm family relationship missing in her own life. Matters become increasingly complicated when Peter regains consciousness and becomes convinced that Lucy is his fiancee; in the meantime, she's fallen in love with his brother.
2. Practical Magic - Sally and Gilian Owens have always known they were different. Raised by their aunts after their parents' death, the sisters grew up in a 'special' household. Attempting to pass on the unique and powerful psychic heritage of the Owens women, Aunt Jet and Aunt Frances hope to give their nieces the strength that comes from practical magic. But the invocation of the Owens' socery also carries a price--some call it a curse: the men they fall in love with are doomed to an untimely death.
3. Hope Floats - Birdee Pruitt seems to have it all. She's been married for years to her handsome highschool sweetheart, and has a brilliant and sensitive child. But when her picture perfect life comes crashing down around her--when her beloved husband dumps her on national tv--Birdee must start over. With no place else to turn, the former beauty queen, along with daughter Bernice, heads back home... to Smithville, Texas. There Birdee's life becomes even more complicated as she tries to deal with a mother she must get to really know for the first time, a daughter who desperately misses her father, and the prospect of a new romance. But as Birdee undertakes her emotionally charged journey, she begins to find strength to reclaim her life, rediscover her family and return to something she had almost given up... hope.
4. Murder By Numbers - Two high school students plan and carry out a series of perfect murders and get entangled in a battle of wits with the FBI profiler that's tracking them.
5. 28 Days - Gwen Cummings is a successful New York writer living life in the fast lane and everyone's favorite party girl. She shares this roller-coaster lifestyle of hopping from dance club to bar to hangover with boyfriend Jasper--handsome, magnetic and equally attracted to life on the wild side. Life is just an execise in debauchery--until Gwen's ungraceful display at her sister Lily's wedding, when she gets drunk, commandeers the limo and earns herself a DUI and 28-days in court ordered rehab.
6. Forces of Nature - Ben has two days to get from New York to Savannah for his wedding to Bridget. How hard can that be in this age of planes, trains and automobiles? When his plane goes skidding into Flushing Bay, Ben saves the life of his seatmate, an eccentric young woman named Sarah. In return, she becomes his faithful traveling companion--whether he likes it or not--and it's all downhill from there as the two head south.
7. Two Weeks Notice - Millionaire George Wade doesn't make a move without Lucy Kelson, his multi-tasking Chief Counsel at the Wade Corporation. A brilliant attorney with a strategic mind, she also has an ulcer and doesn't get much sleep. It's not the job that's getting to her--it's George. Now, after five years of calling the shots, on everything from his clothes to his divorce settlements, Lucy Kelson is calling it quits.
8. Two If By Sea - Part-time plasterer and sometime petty thief Frank O'Brien has been commissioned by his dimwit cousin to pull a simple job: just steal a valuable painting and deliver it to a buyer on an upscale New England island. Roz, his had-it-to-here girlfriend who dreams of a more stable--and law-abiding--life, has made him vow that this is the last scam they'll ever be a part of. With their sharp-edged banter and working-class attitude clearly out of place among the upper-crust islanders, Frank and Roz have to spend a riotous weekend just trying to fit in... and get along.
9. The Lake House - An independent-minded doctor (Sandra Bullock) who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its newest resident, a frustrated architect (Keanu Reeves). When they discover that they're actually living two years apart, they must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it's too late.
10. Miss Congeniality - After botching up an undercover assignment involving Russian mobsters, less-than-graceful FBI Agent Gracie Hart is placed on desk duty. However, when a terrorist, known only as The Citizen, threatens to disrupt the Miss America pageant, Gracie, unfortunately, is the only agent attractive enough to go undercover posing as Miss New Jersey.
11. Miss Congeniality 2 - After Cheryl Frasier and Stan Fields are kidnapped, Gracie goes undercover in Las Vegas to find them.
***UPDATED***
12. The Proposal - A very sweet romantic comedy about a pushy boss who forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada.
