Fall and winter are quickly approaching here in upstate New York and with that comes dry, chapped lips. I have lived in New York my whole life and have endured some very harsh falls and winters. Through the years, I have tried many different products to help relieve the effects that Mother Nature cast upon me. There are many different lip balms, chapsticks and lip conditioners out there. Blistex makes several different types themselves. The following are the top 3 Blistex products that I have found that heal, protect and moisturize my lips the best.

Heal

In the past, I have experienced some pretty awful chapped lips and the absolute best product for relief that I have found is Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment. When I apply this ointment, I can immediately feel a slight tingle to indicate that it is working. This isn't like those flavored lip balms so don't expect your lips to taste fruity but do expect them to feel soft and moisturized. After just a couple of applications, my lips were nearly healed and by the next day, I had complete relief. Blistex can be purchased at most drugstores and grocery stores for only about $3.29. If you are looking for serious, fast relief, this is the product to buy.

Protect

Prolonged exposure to wind, sun and cold dry air contributes to chapped, cracked lips by drawing out moisture and damaging skin. To avoid this from happening to my lips, I use Blistex Ultra Protection Lip Balm. This balm contains multiple protectants such as SPF 30 and UVA. This formulation is water resistant, PABA free and contains anti-oxidants that help neutralize damaging oxidants from the environment. When I apply it to my lips, it goes on smooth and has a waxy feel. The scent actually smells like sunscreen that you apply to your body. I guess it's good to know that my lips are really being protected! It is long lasting and only costs about $2.99 a tube. It can be found at most drugstores and grocery stores. I very rarely find myself with chapped or cracked lips anymore now that I use this product on a regular basis.

Maintain

Blistex Medicated Daily Conditioning Treatment is what I use to keep my lips soft, smooth and moisturized. This treatment comes in a round 2.5 oz. tin container and is applied with your finger. It is available at most drugstores and grocery stores for little over $2.00. It only takes a light swipe on each lip a couple times a day to keep my lips feeling and looking great. This product is colorless but does provide a slight shine. There is a slightly medicated scent and my lips feel a bit of coolness after it is applied. This conditioning treatment "combines moisturizers, vitamins and protectants to provide a daily maintenance regimen for your lips." You can't go wrong with moisturizers such as Aloe Vera, and Cocoa Butter, plus Vitamins A&E. I swear by this stuff!

My Final Viewpoint

I guess you could say that I'm a Blistex fanatic. Their products are effective and affordable and there are so many different variations to choose from. They even have a new Jarritos flavored balm that is supposed to taste like the popular Mandarin soft drink from Mexico. That is one I am definitely going to try next. 5 stars for the three Blistex lip products above!!

My desk drawer over flowith with Blistex...many types and flavors. I do miss the Blistex that plumped the lips...haven't seen that one in years and that worked good too.
