"Must Love Dogs" is a delightful romantic comedy involving a pretty teacher, her family, dogs, computor dating made with a charming cast.

The movie opens with an intervention being done by the large family of  recently divorced Sarah Nolan (Diane Lane). They decided it's time for her to stop being alone and start dating. Each has a person for her and suggestions on what to do. This is a bit overwhelming so she replies that's why people no longer have large families. (You may roll your eyes and think of some of your relatives.)

Later her sisters reveal they have signed Sarah up at perfectmatch.com. They work on a profile with her.Funny sarcasms abound in this scene. One sister types in "Must love dogs." After all any guy who loves dogs can't be all bad right?

One of my favorite scenes is when her sisters arrange her first date. Muffins and coffee with a man who will have a yellow rose with him.  She goes to the  retaurant and ... just her luck... her father  (Christopher Plummer) is sitting at an outside table. She joins him and soon realizes he has a yellow rose. It's for HIS computor date. That's right, she's her father's date! She suggests they spend some time together. He can't because he has another one lined up later.    You'll laugh when you see it.

In the meantime ...... Jake (John Cusak) is intelligent, good-looking and single. So his best friend signs him up for perfectmatch.com. As a result he matches upwith Sarah.

Their first date is in a dog park (with borrowed dogs) Awkward but funny first date. Something of a mild disaster.

What happens next ? Do they continue to date? Do they find love with each other or others? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.

It's not heavy just a light little movie.   :)

I own the DVD. I really like Diane Lane. She's great in Under the Tuscan Sun also.

I agree. I also liked when she talked to the dog, he was so expressive.

John Cusack and Diane Lane are two of my favorites so I like all of their scenes. Diane Lane ages so gracefully! I loved all of the "awkward" first-meeting scenes. They were funny!

Was it on tv or do you have the DVD? I think I'll like it better the next time I see it. Parts of it are very funny.
