I used to want to see the Rolling Stones SO BAD (I even had tickets once, but then they cancelled due to legal problems). But I eventually got over them.

Is there anyone you'd love to see (individual, band, or deceased/defunct)?

I saw the Rolling Stones twice. I'd like to see Radiohead maybe.

If we figure out how to raise the dead I'd LOVE to see Jimi Hendrix.

Rock concerts started seeming too loud for me about 15 years ago. I far prefer classical concerts now. The crowds are a lot easier to deal with too.

Defunct bands? I'd have to confess it's Black Oak Arkansas. Feel-good Southern rock band. They put on a great show in the 70's. Had front row tickets for one of the shows on their last tour. It got cancelled. Now no one has even heard of them.

Glenn Hughes ~ HANDS DOWN~!

Black Oak Arkansas ~ oh man...make my day again RAF.  I have a great photo of them somewhere, not digital, and the singer has a sunburn and he's wearing all white.  FRONT ROW~!               "Jim Dandy to the rescue"

I'd love to see Robin Trower again, I have lots of pics of him also  from the front row, mostly b&w.  I wonder if he tours at all these days??  (here I go back to Google & YouTube)

I can't do classical ~ I did once, backstage, it was OK... wish I could.  I have to have it loud & deafening lol.

I took my son to see the Rolling Stones here when he was 12- that rocked.

I'd love to see the Beatles in concert, but I guess that won't happen soon. I've seen many Beatles tribute bands and some were excellent -- the best was called Beatlemania and it was a terrific show.

Another dead performer that I'd drive 500 miles to see is Steve Goodman. Goodman, one of Chicago's favorite sons, is best known for writing the song The City of New Orleans. Arlo Guthrie had a hit with that song in 1973 or so. Goodman died in 1984 of leukemia and he was too young to die. I saw Steve Goodman perform twice and he brought the house down both times -- best performer I ever saw.

I've seen The Beach Boys, Ringo Starr, Three Dog Night, Christopher Cross, Andy Williams, and Billy Joel live......

This might sound horribly geeky and will probably bore lots of you ladies and gentlemen to tears, but I'd love to see/hear John Williams leading any major orchestra (London Symphony, Boston Symphony/Boston Pops/L.A. Philharmonic) in a concert of his scores for Star Wars, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark and other great movies.

In fact, I'm bummed because on October 30 there's a Star Wars concert (with a huge multi-media presentation and a traveling exhibit of props, costumes and whatnot), and I can't go because it's (a) expensive and (b) one county away and I have no way to get there even if I had the ticket money.

I would like to see the Christian concert pianist Dino.  I went to Missouri hoping to see him at Branson but he is only there during the Christmas season.  He is one fantastic piano player.

For the "if they weren't dead I'd go to a concert by..." category:

Yes, The Beatles would be my rock band of choice.  Sure, Elvis, Chubby Checker, Buddy Holly and others started rock 'n' roll, but they revolutionized it.

But....rock is not my main genre, so I'll add the following:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - the Classical era's bad boy of music.

Ludwig von Beethoven - his Fifth Symphony is my favorite classical work

Glenn Miller and the Glenn Miller Orchestra

Billie Holliday

George Gershwin

I'd like to take Diana Krall home with me....but I think she's married.  That sort of puts a crimp on my plan.

I'd like to have seen Yes on their "Close To The Edge" tour. And Led Zeppelin back in the early 70's. I love concept albums.

Saw Led Zep in Houston 1977 at the Summit, a few years before JB passed - have all my ticket stubs from every show I think.  Amazing show, scalped tickets for 4 @ $100 a piece, which was ALOT back then.

I would have loved to see Yes ~ I never did...will google those, thanky~!

Listening to RT's Daydream right now...

and

(5:25pm) Robin Trower - I Can't Wait Much Longer - 1975

James Dewar has such an amazing voice.  Great jams...in fact IMHO, they never recorded a "bad" song.

I'd love to see a reunited Pink Floyd show.  Their appearance at the Live 8 concert many years ago was awesome and I wish that somehow David Gilmour and Roger Waters could just put aside their differences to go out on tour.

I used to want to see the Rolling Stones, but I've heard some of their more recent live stuff and it is kind of painful to listen to.

Aside from that, I'd love to see Jimmy Buffett, U2, and Madonna in concert.  I've seen all 3 several times and really enjoyed the shows!

I've seen The Beach Boys, Whitney Houston, Paul McCarthy (when Linda was alive), the Rolling Stones, Richie Havens, Bob Dylan, Donovan, and others I can't even remember.

I would love to see Jethro Tull.

That's funny Jo - I was just singing "Wondr'ing Aloud" to myself today by Tull.  A bit deeper album cut.

Nice to see you hun ~ how's the vacation?  Send cool air my way, please?

Queen, fronted by Adam Lambert.  I saw Queen (w/Freddie) at Wembley Stadium back in the 80's.  Superb!

My nephew is away at school but he's learning "Bohemian Rhapsody" on piano. When he comes home for Thanksgiving I'll have to have learned the guitar part. They were a great band, wish I'd seen them when they came here.

The night my dad died, we were in my sister's room telling her and "Another One Bites The Dust" came on on her radio. Couldn't have been more inappropriate at the time. Now I think it's pretty funny.

I would LOVE to see Rob Zombie in Concert, he cancelled on me once. One day I will try to go see him again. My all time favorite!! Also would like to see Disturbed and Tool. Possibly Marilyn Manson also because I love the shock of what he does and Eminem is awesome also.

There are bands and performers I would like to see who aren't here now - The Beatles being probably at the top. Would love to see Frank Sinatra too. The whole rat pack would be awesome. Queen would be an experience too.

I saw a lot of bands and musicians that I had wanted to see and I can only think of Kenny Chesney that I would really like to see right now (and had the chance to see this summer and passed it by. DOH.) I love all of his songs. If Uncle Kracker was with him and opened and then sang "When the Sun Goes Down" with him, I would be a very happy woman.

I want to see Poison one more time for nostalgia's sake. They were so much fun to watch and listen to. I would see Garth Brooks and Billy Joel again in a heartbeat. Both shows were excellent. Jimmy Buffet would be fun to see.

No one new really trips my trigger enough to make me want to deal with the loudness that is a live concert these days. I like many newer artists but not enough to sit through a couple hours of them. I'll probably think of someone the second I post this though. Ha!

I've been to more concerts than I can count and have seen all of the current bands I would like to see. The only exception is U2, whom I will finally see for the first time on October 14.

As for past performers, Jimi Hendrix would have been great to see, and so would the Doors.

Sorry, Fardreamer, Elvis Costello snapped her up :(. That must have been quite a wedding. I wonder who the band was.

I would be into any rat pack type stuff.

No Doubt puts on an awesome show.

These days, I'd love to see... hmm...

  • Al Di Meola + Rodrigo y Gabriela (There's an amazing video on youtube of them teaming up in a concert in Paris, playing one of Al's songs, "Mediterranean Sundance".)
  • Loreena McKennitt
  • The Fixx... again (I saw them once in the cozy half-shell thingy on Navy Pier in Chicago, and it's the best concert I've ever seen—perfect weather, small audience, great venue.)
