I'm a music NUT.  No. Really.  I listen to music all day, every chance I get. I'm listening to music RIGHT NOW.  Being "not right in the head" like I am, I really love off-beat songs with funny titles.  Stuff that so obviously was written just because they wanted to write it and not because they were looking for a hit.  Now, Cletus T. Judd and Weird Al songs are obvious choices, but, everyone knows those. (Although, as high-brow music goes, it's pretty hard to beat "Weasel Stomping Day" and "White and Nerdy").  What are your all-time favorite song titles, ones that make you smile or just laugh outright?  Two of my favorites are:

"Its Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night that Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long", by The Notorious Cherry Bombs.

AND

"Fryin' Bacon Nekkid" by Roger Alan Wade (or as some know it, "Lovin' You is Like Fryin' Bacon Nekkid".

Well I probably have a million but the first word I thought of I'll go with. It's not funny - it's real - Imagine.

I don't like the songs but the titles are wierd enough to mention:

" I Hope My Kids Like Marilyn Manson" by The Gas Giants

Ray Stevens- "Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick-Dissolving, Fast-Acting Pleasant-Tasting Green and Purple Pills".

Don't know who sang it but "Dropkick Me, Jesus, Through the Goalposts of Life"

Believe it or not, that last song was written and recorded by Kris Kristofferson. Love me some Ray Stevens!! "Ahab the Arab", "Gitarzan", "The Streak".

"Kissing you good bye" - Waylon Jennings

It's not so funny unless you read it. The main line is, "Get your tongue out of my mouth. I'm kissing you good bye."

Here is one that Louis Armstrong used to perform back in the 1920's.

"I'm a Ding-Dong Daddy from Duma, and You Ought To See Me Do Ma'h Stuff!"

For years, people thought I was making this up even though there it was, on one of the records in my classic collection of Louis Armstrong hits.  Then one night on the Tonight Show, a young lady stood up and challenged the band to play "Ding Dong Daddy" and sure enough, they were able to play it and she was able to sing it!

So THERE, all you doubters and scoffers and people who thought I dreamed it!

"My Ding-a-Ling" by Chuck Berry (I think).  I was a kid when it came out and I thought the title was hilarious.

"I Hate Every Bone in Your Body But Mine" by Poison is a good one. It makes me laugh because I truly believe there are men out there who feel that way about some women.

And I love "I Wanna Talk About Me" because...who doesn't? Toby Keith just said it out loud.

Yikes!  I am certainly not, repeat NOT one of those men who feel that way about women,

As for favorite song titles, I guess if it's for the title alone and not the song it would have to be "Que Sera, Sera."  That should be my mantra.

If we're talking about mantras. Billy Joels' "Pressure" or men at Work's "Who Could it Be Now" would be mine.  I'm not good with pressure and some say I'm a tad paranoid.  After all, I totally relate to Flagpole Sitta: "Paranoia, paranoia, everybody's coming to get me." Heh.

"Caught Me Spanking It" by Stephen Lynch

Richard Cheese is also a pretty funny singer, he takes all types of top hits and puts a Lounge style of music to it. I recommend his rendition of "Down with the Sickness"

'Drop-Kick Me, Jesus, Through the Goalpost of Life'. Also 'I Get Tears In My Ears From Lying On My Back In Bed While I Cry Over You'.  Yes, these are actual songs.

John Prine has a song called Come Back to Us Barbara Lewis Hare Krishna Beauregard. Really. And Jimmy Buffet has My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink and I Don't Love Jesus. Pretty good song, actually.

I came up with a title a few years ago but never wrote a song for it. Maybe one of you clever people can figure out some lyrics for this title:

If I'm Your Number One, Why Do You Treat Me Like Number Two?

Do you ever get a song from a commercial or television show stuck in your inner ear and it keeps bobbing up at unexpected times?  For a while, I would sometimes catch myself belting out  "Viva, VIAGRA!...."   Thank God, this was eventually replaced with another favorite, this one from The Sopranos, "Woke Up This Morning, Got Myself a Gun!" which came to be especially problematic because I eventually came to know almost all the lyrics to it!

If you have never listened to "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife" by Jimmy Soul, you just got to!  It is an oldie, but it is GREAT!!!    It is funny, has a great beat, and will have you singing it too ............long after the song is over.   You just gotta hear it!!

Though I, too, like comedy songs and parodies along the lines of "Weird Al" Yankovich's "Eat It" and "The Saga Begins", I can't think of any really favorite funny song titles which are favorites. ("Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" is clever but not a fave.)

So right now, because I'm a rank sentimentalist, I'll go with the duo of "As Time Goes By" and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes."

That's a Number 1 country song and pretty good, by the way.  Sounds like Billy is channeling Merle Haggard on this one!

Aw Mike now you're talkin' . . .  I love Merle Haggard & Waylon Jennings and I just remembered another song by Johnny Cash called, Committed to Parkview,  it's disturbingly amusing!

Thank God & Greydound She's Gone. Two more really good ones are Drop Kick Me Jesus Through The Goal Post of Life & All My Exes Live In Texas. It's nice when you can find some humor in Country Music.

Toby Keith's "I Ain't As Good as I Once Was (But I'm as Good Once as I As Ever Was) kind of sums up my life these days. Love the title and the song.

"Till" it is so old now I don't even know who sung it. It was the late "50 or early "60. If anyone remembers this song please let me know the artist.
