This is REALLY going to date me!  The first 45 RPM I ever bought was "Fats Domino" singing and playing to "Blueberry Hill!"

And my best friend played it on her cute little pink 45 RPM record player!

I think that was during the Jurassic Age!

Have a nice evening, everyone!

Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells a Story.   That's the first one I remember buying for myself.  My parents bought stuff for me before that, southern gospel, the Beatles, blah-blah-blah......

The first music I ever purchased was a cassette tape of U2's Joshua Tree when it came out in 1987.  Still a classic in my book.

I honestly can't remember. I was nutty about music ever since I was a kid but the first thing I actually bought was probably a 1960s 45 RPM bubblegum single from the likes of Paul Revere and the Raiders or the 1910 Fruitgum Company. By 1965 or so, I was getting the occasional LP. I still have many of the records I bought back then and even have them reasonably well organized, including 300 or so 45 RPM singles.

The first song I learned how to play on guitar was Cream's Sunshine of Your Love. The second was Wilson Pickett's In the Midnight Hour.

I bought singles and stuff since I was really young but I remember the first album I bought (or one of the first three anyway) was John Cougar (Mellancamps)'s "Nothing Matters and What if it Did". I loved him and had/have every album/CD he ever made. That was in 1980 so I know I must have bought other stuff before then. I just can't remember what.

George Thorogood was another artist whose album I bought at an early age. And I even have John Travolta's album still. Haha. He wasn't that bad of a singer.

In my sun room, I have a huge stack of vinyl albums consisting of Boston, John Cougar, Little River Band, hair bands, Doug and the Slugs, Steve Forbert, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Styx, and many others. I still like all that music to this day.

I received a spankin hot Holly Hobbie record player one year and couldn't wait to go out and buy a record for it.  I didn't know much about music (other than my father constantly playing Ring of Fire on his record player) so I picked out some disco record with greatest hits from the 70's on it.

Soon after that, I bought the soundtrack from the movie Grease.  Later on it was Air Supply and Duran Duran.  Gee, I might still have those old records in my parent's attic.

I didn't start buying LPs or tapes until I was 15; my first purchase was the two-record original soundtrack from Star Wars.  Until then, all my music had been given to me as gifts.

The first tape I ever bought was the single to Milly Vanilly  " Girl you know its true"  I must of been like 8 or 9.  I used to lipsync with it in front of the mirror on my door.

It was a little 45 RPM record. "Gloria" by Laura Branigan. My mom gave it to me for a gift. As an aside, I remember one time before the purchase of my first record,  McDonald's gave out these little flimsy red 45 records with the McDonald's menu theme song on it. I still remember the song.

"I'd like a Big Mac, Mc BLT, A Quarter-Pounder with some cheese, Filet-O-Fish, A Hamburger, A Cheeseburger, A Happy Meal..."

It's the WHOLE menu, not just that little piece. I think the marketing camapign worked!

I was so in love with Ricky Nelson! [okay me and 1000s of other girls] but I don't think I ever bought any of his records.  I really don't know the first one that I bought myself but I remember a set of Swan Lake RED 78s that I played over and over as a girl.  Then, I had some 45s that were children's songs.  My favorite was something like, "Toy Soldiers on Parade"   Great memories.

I do remember the first concert I ever went to.  It was The Animals performing at the University of Miami.

So you would lip sync with Milly Vanilly while they lip synced!   How ironic...LOL!  I so loved them... You know, live performances are so overrated when you have cool braided hair!

For gitbean "Ring My Bell", by Anita Ward...  I broke that album in half & tossed it on the dance floor my last week working in a Disco.  PUKE!
