Muse's first studio album, Showbiz, clearly reveals all the ups and downs of their music style.  Being their first full release, the tracks are not tainted by producers and effects.  In this album, Muse shows its diversity in sounds and styles that would become their hallmark. — — The opening track, "Sunburn" begins with a fluttery piano rift that continues throughout the song.  It begins so discretely and with each verse and chorus, the song builds and builds and accentuates the rawness in Matt Bellamy's singing voice.  This is a classic Muse track nowadays… read full review »

The British trio Muse approach their work like opera, from their love of huge song structures to lead singer Matthew Bellamy's soprano arias. "Uno" mixes a tango beat with power chords; the single "Muscle Museum" lays Latin guitar and piercing distortion over a stately, waddling bass line. Acoustic numbers such as "Unintended" serve up unabashed romanticism like a tender truffle. Showbiz is passionate and loud and also unexpectedly gentle.
