I am trying to cut back on my sugar intake because the Doctor has warned me that my blood sugar levels are creeping up. I need to work to keep diabetes from knocking at my door. Since I have a heck of a sweet tooth I have been looking for some sweet alternatives that are sugar free. I saw some Murray Sugar Free Cookies in the grocery store, they had several different varieties, but I thought I would be safter choosing one that did not have chocolate on it or in it. So I decided to try the Murray Sugar Free Shortbread Cookies.
The Murray Sugar Free Shortbread cookies are shaped exactly like regular shortbread cookied, they have that daisy shape with a hole in the middle, they do seem a tiny bit thinner though.
Murray Sugar Free Shortbread cookies are sweetened with Splenda and actually tastes just like regular Shortbread cookies. I can not really taste that much of a difference at all. I am sure if you were eating them both side by side than you might taste a difference. However, just going off of memory these taste just like the shortbread cookies I remember.
While there is no sugars there are 4 grams of sugar alcohol.
A serving size of these cookies is 8 cookies. One serving equals 130 calories, and 5 grams of fat. You get about 40 cookies per package. Be aware these cookies are not low in fat. You do however get 8 whole cookies so you get a lot of cookies per serving. There are 140 mg. of sodium. There are 21 grams of carbohydrates, thre are 2 grams of dietary fiber, and 2 grams of protein. There was also %4 of the RDA of Iron.
These cookies counat as 1 fat exchange, and 1 carbohydrate exchange, in case you are following an exchange type diet.
The other flavors include: Chocolate Chip, Fudge Dipped Vanilla Wafers, Chocolate Sandwich, Vanilla Wafters, and mint.
As far as sugar free cookies go these are really good tasting. The problem is they are almost too good tasting. They also go down really easily. I can see many people tempted to sit and eat half of the package. It is actually good that you get to eat 8 since it is difficult to eat just one or two of of these.
These are really good so if you watching your sugar intake but have a sweet tooth like me, you will enjoy Murray Sugar Free Shortbread cookies.
