I have very few health issues but one problem I have had for as long as I could breathe is a sinus and allergy condition. It is more of an annoyance than anything, but it can still get interfere with an otherwise perfect day. To help cope with my bouts of sinus problems, I turn to the over the counter drug market and one product I have used with excellent results is Mucinex Full Force Nasal Spray, a long- lasting drug that helps break up mucus.
Drug Commentary:
Mucinex Full Force Nasal Spray is a product used directly on irritated sinuses. Like other sinus sprays, it is sold in a small plastic bottle containing a very small amount of liquid (about 22 mm or 0.75 oz). Rather than a squeeze bottle, this one utilizes a pump to deliver the spray. Two or three pumps in each nostril is all it takes to send the mucus- dissolving liquid into the nasal passages. The product provides temporary relief from nasal congestion due to colds, hay fever, and upper respiratory allergies. It helps shrink swollen nasal membranes and its vapor action also helps to clear the sinuses.
I usually use sinus tablets like Benedryl or Claritin to treat my sinus and allergy problems, but I do experience that occasional tough bout with my sinuses that requires something super- powerful, and this is when I reach for products like Mucinex Full Force Nasal Spray. This product is very strong and it goes to work immediately. I admit, when I first heard about this product, I wasn't sure if I should but it and I was even more hesitant to use it. The reason, of course, is the name. Full force just has a scary sound to it. What exactly would this product do once inside the nasal passages? The only way to know was to purchase a bottle and put it to the test.
A couple of pumps of Mucinex Full Force Nasal Spray will quickly convince you of this product's potency. It isn't as scary of an experience as I first thought, but you can certainly feel its presence. There is a burning sensation in the nose and this is sometimes followed by a quick discharge of mucus. There is also a strong smell and the vapors aid in the decongestant process.
One other advantage you gain with Mucinex Full Force Nasal Spray is the long lasting effects. Two or three sprays in each nostril will provide sinus congestion relief for up to twelve hours, which is two to three times longer than other sinus sprays. From my experience, I find that the product lasts for a little bit shorter duration, but the problem is not misinformation on the part of Mucinex- the problem is that you tend to lose some of the fluid after you spray. Because it is so powerful, it often loosens up mucus immediately, causing it to discharge. This, of course, can end up taking some of the medication with it, lessening the chance for what is left to work for twelve hours.
Mucinex Full Force Nasal Spray has no serious side effects, but I have noticed that, because it produces a burning sensation in the nose, it is also likely to cause sneezing. Again, this can cause you to quickly lose some of the medication, thereby lessening its effects. However, it is a small price to pay for something that works so well.
Bottom Line Viewpoint:
Sinus sprays are not created equally and Mucinex Full Force Nasal Spray is one of the better ones around. It is a powerful product with a scary name and is intended for tough sinus problems. It blasts your sinuses open, restoring free breathing and eliminating this often annoying condition.
