I have a daughter who has a chronic cough. I found nothing that works to control it. I tried the Mucinex for Kids granules in the bubble gum flavor. She loved the taste, I loved the convenience. It controlled her cough better than anything I have ever tried. I would recommend this to anyone with kids with coughs.
My daughter's pediatrician suggested that she try Mucinex and gave us a few samples of Mini-Melts. She said these come in packages kind of like the Pixie Sticks candy--just open and pour onto the tongue.
I checked the package carefully when we got home and did not see whether or not it contained gluten. The pediatrician had said she did not know either when we were in the office. After calling the 800 number, I discovered that none of the Mucinex products are guaranteed gluten-free. Bummer. I have had several friends who have said their kids were helped by Mucinex, so I gave my samples to them.
I have found that this product is best for my son who seemed to stay with a cold or had a history of Bronchitis. Many people do not understand that household dust, MOLD, and dirt cause these issues when they were never there before but it helps if you can't have the natural stuff. It helps to loosen phlegm and get it out. When children have Bronchitis they should not have cough suppressants but cough expectorant to help ease the lungs and clear the lung passage ways.
I tried these since my daughter wasn't quite old enough to swallow pills. These things taste disgusting....it does not dissolve quickly enough,and when it does it is not very fine in texture and does not taste true to flavor. After crying each time I gave it to her (twice) I went to taste it myself and found out she was correct.
