Mucinex is a great product. My nurse practitioner even recommended it before trying an antibiotic and I couldn't believe it but she was right!  When you are congested in the head, nasal passages, or chest, the guasafin (the active ingredient) will get it out.  Take this at the onset of congestion--and take some tylenol or ib profin to minimize swelling of the nasal passages, which sometimes is why you can't get it out!

However, be forewarned that this does affect blood sugar, so if you are diabetic, consult your doctor before use.  If you're not diabetic, you will want to eat a little more than...

Mucinex is apsolutely great. I am one of those people who cannot take most cold medicines. They make me feel really jittery and keep me awake. Mucinex has no side effects. I take it and cannot even tell I took anything at all. Except that my cough becomes more productive and my stuffy nose is finally moving and I can blow it out. Most cold medicines just releive symptoms. Mucinex actually helps you get better by getting the phlem out. As a wonderful added bonus it comes in a pill form and lasts a long time.

It is a bit expensive but if you buy a large bottle and wait for a sale it isn't too bad....

I had the worst sinus problem I have ever had. I went inot the pharmacy and was overheard by more than one person doing an inordinate amount of sniffing and nose blowing. I was told by a few people that this product was the one I was looking for and overnight would obtain relief. Unfortunately I paid the full retail price, which was quite a bit, and when morning came, no real relief, just mucus running down the back of my throat and unable to blow it out. Wouldn't try it again.

I dont even bother with any other products when i get chest congestion. They just dont work. mucinex just loosens the stuff right up and BLAM out it comes plain and simple no need for lengthy review things could get gross. Point is it works and works well!

I had a coupon for Mucinex Expectorant and decided to try it.  I had some conjestion and it worked really great, the only problem is without a coupon for $5.00 off I couldn't afford to buy it.

I suffer from COPD for which I constantly have mucus that sits in my lungs.  This product was first given to me in the hospital and it works very well but it costs alot of money. I found that Kmart sells it at a generic brand that works just as well.  I am on disability and have to watch what I spend especially when it comes to medicines that I can buy over the counter.  I always check to make sure the ingredients are the same and then make my decisions better that way.  Bottom line.....this works to thin it out which makes it easier to bring up, thus makes it so it doesn't sit there and infect...
