When it comes to desserts, I'm a guy who likes to stick with the basics.  Apple pie (maybe a la mode, maybe some cheese), but Apple pie usually does it for me.

If you read me often, you know I do enjoy cooking  Whether cooking for myself or for a crowd I so enjoy the sense of accomplishment taking a list of ingredients and turning it into something special.

Having developed most of my cooking skills since becoming "suddenly single" in the late 80's, I focused on entrees, soups, salads and sides.  I have learned to make a killer appetizer or two along the way.

My husband loves pies, especially apple pie. I've made homemade apple pies for him before, but I always end up with a sink full of dishes. My kitchen is too small for a dishwasher, so I have to wash dishes by hand and I hate washing dishes. Having this problem, I went in search of a frozen apple pie that tastes like homemade and after trying several, I have found a winner..."Mrs. Smith's Special Recipe Deep Dish Apple Pie".

Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie (special recipe) is in a class by itself. It tastes like homemade because it contains high quality ingredients and you bake it yourself, in your own oven. This product is, however, lately becoming hard to find in local grocery stores. The shelf space has been bought up by competitors, selling an inferior class of frozen pie for more money. The Mrs. Smith's brand itself has resorted to hawking by-the-slice microwave desserts of late, hoping to make pie a year-round thing in the age of no more trans fat. How many of us remember the wonderful aromas coming from Grandmas kitchen? I certainly do. Grandma made the most wonderful bread and pies. There are many other things Grandma could make and she never used a recipe. I was always totally amazed at the results. I always needed a recipe. There are many foods I can prepare without a recipt now, but now baking pies.

Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie reminds me of the wonderful applie pies Grandma turned out. The aroma of the apples and cinnamon baking made us want to eat that pie as soon as it came out of the oven. You know we had to wait.

I think Mrs. Smitih's Deep Dish apple pie is delicious it taste just like a hot apple homemade pie. Its easy to fix and doesnt take long to cook great for dessert. I recommend you try it.

I absolutely love serving dessert, especially when it is easy to make, but still tastes homemade.  Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie tastes like it has been made from scratch, but comes from the freezer.  This pie bakes in your oven for about 40 minutes and comes out piping hot and has a great aroma.  The crust is thick and crisp and the filling is a mixture of fresh apples and cinnamon.  Each pie serves about 10 people and is perfect with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel topping.  This is such an easy pie to make because it is right from the freezer, but tastes fresh and... read full review »
