a great coffee maker for the price

5

A good coffee maker for the price Brew Performance Brews quite well, with no issues. Ease of Cleaning cleaning this coffee maker is easy except for the basket. The basket swings out and it is hard to get it to come off. Also after brewing a pot of coffee you have to reach into the basket and take out the wet filter to throw it away. Ease of Use The programmable feature on this coffeemaker is cinch to use. You can definetely set and forget it. Design Like I said before, the basket swings out and it makes it hard to clean. Also, because of this you have to handle the wet coffee filter when you want to empty it, other than that it has a great design and is appropriate for countertop use and for small spaces. Durability I have had my model for two years now and it is still going strong. The coffee pot itself has not cracked after repeated washing. The heating plate has worked very well for the past two years, and the tubing within the system has stayed working well.

good, relaible coffee maker

I've been happy with this coffee maker. I bought it about three and a half years ago and it still works quite well. I should note, however, that I don't use it every day. I'd estimate that I've used it an average of three to four times a week over the time I've owned it. The coffee maker is very easy to use. You pour in the coffee and the water and hit the on button. It only takes a few minutes to brew, and it makes good coffee. It does offer a couple of extra features - a delay brew button and the ability to program it to make coffee at a certain time, but I've never used either feature. I have a reusable filter in my coffee maker, which I believe came with it. I really appreciate this feature. I've used the same filter the entire time that I've owned the coffee maker, so I've never had to buy coffee filters.

It's The Very Best But You Pay A Lot For It.

I am "of a certain age" and when I was younger I didn't think much about long range skin care. Every summer I tanned at the beach and every winter I visited a tanning bed at least twice a week. I never used sunscreen and I never used any kind of moisturizer. I didn't notice the gradual sagging and loosening of my skin until my late fifties. My skin suddenly looked awful. It had no tone and was awfully loose. That was brought home hard when I had to get my driver's license renewed. Those pictures are notoriously awful anyway but it was a real wake up call for me. I tried several products. There were some mediocre results but when I first used Chanel Ultra Correction Lift Night Cream I knew I had found the pot of gold at the end of my personal rainbow. I had never heard of the protein tensin. I found that it was a protein that was abundant in youth but as you age it decreases. Tensin is essential to youthful looking skin. Chanel has found an ingredient that promotes the production of telsin. The result was amazing.

Mr. Coffee Model DRX20 Lacks in Many Ways

2

Coffee is a beverage I didn't like much in the past but my interest has continued to grow and develop thanks to the hundreds of flavors available. Preparing coffee generally requires a drip coffee maker and the right coffee maker can make the process easier and the final product better in taste. One coffee maker that comes up a little short on both counts is the **Mr. Coffee Model DRX20**, a basic drip coffee maker from one of the best known names in the business.  **Coffee Maker Commentary:** Mr. Coffee model DRX20 is a 12- cup coffee maker featuring mostly plastic construction with a glass carafe that includes cup markings for convenience. The reservoir occupies the rear section of the coffee maker and it offers see- through viewing on both sides, with the cup lines clearly marked so that customers can fill the water to the right level.  Mr. Coffee 12- Cup Coffee Maker, model DRX20 offers a small LCD display that shows the time and the unit can be programmed to start brewing at a specific time each morning. There is also a pause and serve feature that allows the brewing cycle to be interrupted temporarily while you pour yourself a cup, along with an auto shutoff that turns the unit off after two hours.    This coffee maker from Mr. Coffee is intended for the more budget- minded individual who can tolerate a few inconveniences. There are a few good points with the Mr. Coffee model DRX20, such as its twelve cup capacity and its appearance. It looks fairly nice sitting on a kitchen countertop- the type of appliance you won't want to hide away in a cabinet when not in use. The cord is long and can be stuffed inside the back of the unit to keep it hidden from view and the glass carafe is taller and easier to clean than the Mr. Coffee carafes of old.  Pause and serve is also nice, even though it is becoming more commonplace and is no longer the unique feature it once was.   Now, let's talk about the bad points. This Mr. Coffee model is most memorable for the wrong reason: The noise level of the brewing cycle. There will be no doubt in your mind that coffee is brewing when Mr. Coffee model DRX20 is performing the task due to the gurgling noise. It is far too loud, and when using the delayed brewing option, it is actually loud enough that it can also serve as an alarm clock to wake you up. I expect some noise, but this is too much. I don't want to be able to hear my coffee maker from two rooms away.     Another quality I do not like with this coffee maker is the plastic cover that sits atop both the coffee filtering area and the reservoir. This piece of plastic collects the condensed water that rises as steam during the brewing cycle. Ordinarily, this would not matter, but because of the way this coffe maker was designed, it ends up spilling the condensed water behind the unit when the cover is lifted. Flip open the top after the cycle and the water starts to run down the inside of the cover, making its way to your counter top. A few simple changes to the design would have eliminated this problem.  Yet another problem I have with this coffee maker is the hinge on the carafe. It is very cheaply made, flimsy, and will likely break in due time. But even when not broken, it is annoying because it really gets in the way when you are pouring out the last cup of coffee. It causes small spills. The LCD display also needs a few improvements. It doesn't have any locking mechanism. That means that any accidental press of the button will move the clock forward. This could certainly be a problem if you use the delayed brewing function.   **Bottom Line Viewpoint:** I have used many different coffee makers in my day and the Mr. Coffee Model DRX20 is not the coffee maker for me. It is missing many of the bells and whistles I have grown to expect in my coffee maker but I could tolerate these omissions if the unit was more functional. However, when you consider all of the oversights with the construction of this appliance, this is certainly a coffee maker to avoid. There are even less expensive units that make coffee more efficiently.

Big Mistake! They messed up with this one!

I must agree with everything the previous reviewer stated about this Mr. Coffee Maker. It is by far the worst coffee maker I have ever owned and hopefully ever do own. The noise does not bother me so much as I am far away from my kitchen, but all of the other things mentioned are so bothersome that I am in the market for another coffee pot after having had this one for only 5 months. The pause and serve is useless because it drips the entire time. I can't tell you how many times I have accidentally hit the buttons and changed the time. Very frustrating. It states that it is a 12 cup coffee maker. There are two holes in the back of the coffee maker where you pour the water to prepare the coffee. These two holes are at the top and if you fill the water too high it will leak out of the holes. I also can't fill too close to these holes because I have to pull my coffee pot out from the wall to fill it and when I push it back against the wall after wards, the water will spill out if I have filled it with more than 11 cups of water.   The reason I came to write this review was because after just 5 months of use we noticed the warming plate had a little chip in the Teflon coating a few days ago. Within 2 days it was the size of a nickle. I got a flashlight and took a close look at it and could see that the heat circle all the way around the warming plate had little bubbles and is getting ready to completely flake off.  I am going to call about the warranty, but I'm sure it will still be cheaper to just buy another coffee pot. I'm not sure if it will be another Mr. Coffee. I think I will wait until after I have talked to their customer service and see how they handle this problem. But it will not be this model!

it's great at boiling water

4

i don't use this coffee maker for it's intended purpose of coffee making. i only use it to boil water for my tea, so i cannot vouch for the quality of the coffee produced. however, as a water boiler, this maker is excellent. i really like that i can pour myself several cups if i wanted to instead of the single serve makers i keep seeing everywhere. i like that there is an automatic shut-off button, because i know that sooner or later, the maker will shut itself off. it works quite efficiently, and i think that for the price, it's an item definitely worth getting. i don't know if it's good for the coffee, but again, i really like it because i haven't got a saucepan, and this thing boils water for me in an instant!

Good value

If you have someone who loves a simple cup of 'joe' living in your home, this coffee maker does the job. We've had this coffee pot for 2.5 years and it is still going strong. We like that it is programmable and we can set it the night before and have fresh coffee waiting for us when we wake up. Unfortunately, if you forget to program it the night before it will take quite awhile until you have a cup of hot coffee in your hand. We do like that the pot, lid and filter holder can go in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. Cons: In addition to the long brewing time, this coffee pot is quite noisy (another reason to set it the night before to brew while you're still asleep). Always condensation on the water reservoir lid-it seems like it never dries out which seems like a prime breeding ground for bacteria, etc. Pros: Inexpensive, lasts at least 2.5 years, programmable, dishwasher safe, makes a simple cup of coffee which is all we really need.

I was looking for a great coffee pot--Mr. Coffee DRX20 is not it

2

We were in the market for a new coffee pot as our previous model had broken and was beyond repair. My in-laws were in town and were willing to buy us a brand new model. This was my opportunity to get a great coffee pot to support my addiction to--er, love of my favorite beverage. Unfortunately, I mostly missed the boat. To be fair, let's talk about the things I do like about this coffee pot. First, I appreciate the "delay brew" option which allows me to wake up to the smell of my freshly brewed coffee, especially on those mornings when I just don't want to get out of bed. It also brews a full pot fairly quickly, something I can not say for every coffee pot I have owned. However, there are quite a few drawbacks to this model. First, I would not recommend using any kind of paper/disposable filter in the basket as about 1 out of 2 times I brewed coffee with a disposable filter the side of the filter collapsed due to the placement of the spout which dispenses the hot water into the basket. There is nothing more frustrating than going to pour a cup of coffee only to find it better resembles weak tea as the water mostly drained to the outside of the filter leaving the coffee grids untouched. Additionally, water tends to condense on the unit above the carafe so that when you remove the carafe it drips onto the hot plate and "sizzles" annoyingly. Another strong drawback is the design of the tube that draws the water from the reservoir into the basket. It is placed so that it is nearly impossible to clean around it, which I foresee could cause the apparatus to clog after enough use. If you, too, are looking for that perfect coffee pot I would suggest that you not make the same mistake I did--keep looking.

mr. coffee makes a good cup of joe!

3

im going to start by saying that im addicted to coffee. while i was overseas, most of the people drank tea, and their version of coffee was a watered down milky drink that wishes it couldve been coffee (lol). since i like to drink a few cups a day, i bought a 12 cup machine and havent looked back. although my hubby doesnt drink coffee, the size is good not just for myself but for when i have guests over and boiling tea is just a drag. i went with mr coffee because of the name, and i cant say that its served me any less then i wouldve expected... it was a little pricey when compared to a generic coffeemaker or maybe one by another brand, but if you calculate cost/use then i think ive def payed it off. i just wish i knew what a coffeemaker means when they say a cup, because if i make 3 cups, it fits in one mug! so its actually 4 servings when they say 12 cups. i like it for now, but i want to upgrade to a keurig soon!

Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Coffee Maker is my friend in the mornings.

I've had several different brands of coffee makers over the years, but I always come back to the Mr. Coffee brand.  Unfortuneately, coffee makers don't last as long as they did years ago, and price doesn't make it better.  I've had more success with Mr. Coffee than any other brand.  Mr. Coffee is an inexpensive coffee maker.
