I have read so many wonderful reviews about this product, that I was thrilled to receive a sample size to try it out for myself.  My sister swears by it, sang its praises, and promised that I once I used it I would be hooked.  Unfortunately, she was wrong.  For me, my feelings were more like "use it, then lose it."   And not just because it crumbled into a million pieces.   But I'm getting ahead of myself...

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - Extra Power is a disposable household cleaning sponge with a textured side for cleaning tough stains.  You simply wet the sponge and then rub the spot to erase the dirt and grime.  The sponge is approximately 4.5 inches long, and it has a contoured shape that fits well in the palm of your hand.

The box said that the Eraser is great for cleaning tubs and shower floors, baked on grease, tile grout, light switches, plastic patio furniture, and even vinyl windowsills.  I decided to tackle the dirt and smudges on the door to the garage.

Sure enough, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser quickly dissolved the smudges on the door as well as on the light switchplate.  Unfortunately, the Eraser also quickly dissolved in my hand as I was wiping.  I don't know, maybe I have Herculean hands and need to be more gentle, but I really wasn't scrubbing my hardest.  The product dissolved in the middle, tore into two, and then crumbled at the edges.  I'm still picking up tiny bits of the Eraser from the mud room floor.

Overall, I think the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - Extra Power is effective at cleaning without harsh fumes or chemicals.  My door and switchplate are both clean (although it did strip some of the flat latex paint away in the process), but the product just didn't hold up well enough for me to recommend.

Wow! This is really interesting. I'm glad to finally hear the other side of the story with this product. Great review.

Great review! I actually like this product but I've learned to be realistic about how long it will last which isn't very long but I just thought it was because my own grime sometimes gets a tad over-whelming! I use this a lot for kitchen cabinet doors with success. Hope you're having a nice day!

I don't think you have the ability to be "too rough" on a sponge. Your pictures show a rather petite lady. There are so many horror stories (physical bodily harm) that I get worried when someone really likes this product.

I have used them to get scruff marks off the floor but I'm mindful not to touch anything but my fingers and to wash hands immediately after using the sponge. I also thought the sponge dissolved/crumbled quickly. ~Gigi
