Mr. Brooks  —

Kevin Costner goes Creepy
I never thought I'd see Kevin Costner playing a bad guy, after years of playing sentimental or "guy's guy" roles.  But this dark little film surprises with Mr. Costner as a happily married businessman who leads a double life as (sorry, Honey) an addicted killer, trying to reform, but doggedly egged on by his own imaginary alter ego (William Hurt).   Marg Helgenberger aptly plays the supportive wife juggling a troubled family.  Demi Moore is believable as a cop, although it's a stretch to swallow her character's background.  Oh well, makes for an interesting side plot.   (And some nice eye candy for the ladies: see below)

Twists & Turns
Comedian Dane Cook also takes a scary turn, but I won't spoil the film by giving away any details.  I'd say don't read the reviews, and just go see this movie, when you're in the mood for a thrill.   William Hurt and Costner have a devilish good time in a couple of scenes.   There are enough twists and turns to keep the audience hooked.   The Director also did a good job of inserting the necessary comic relief a horror film needs.    Mr. Brooks, with his well-thought-out plans, also makes clever use of some everyday objects.    But will Demi Moore figure out his dirty little secret?

Libby's Hot Tips:  Fans of Sex and the City will recognize the sexiest actor on earth (Jason Lewis, who romanced Samantha as "Jerrod" the model), while "24" die-hards might not realize they're seeing Michelle Dessler, back from the dead, more gorgeous than ever, and creating havoc as a greedy divorce attorney.   Danielle Panabaker, the young woman deftly playing daughter Jane portrayed a troubled teen in HBO's Empire Falls.

Go Get Thrilled
Don't expect an Academy Award Winning Film, but you'll enjoy this thriller.  Hurt is delicious as the evil catalyst, and Panabaker is haunting to watch.

The Bottom Line:  Libby Likes It!
