Out of the box, Thunderbird is an e-mail client with a basic address book. However, the functionality can be extended with add-ons much like Firefox:

  • Lighting for calendar and tasks.
  • MoreFunctionsForAddressBook adds fields for birthdays, anniversaries, categories, etc

Great for the price, but you get what you pay for.

A competent and useful local email client. Positives are that it has nice email sort features, and having the ability to install user created ad-ons is a big plus.
