Mozilla Firefox is quite possibly one of the best things that could have happened to computers. It's destroyed the belief that Microsoft's Internet Explorer is the one and only browser and has opened up the world of alternative software to not only computer geeks, but to normal everyday people.

This software is better than Internet Explorer (IE) because it's faster, safer, and best of all, it's completely customizable. Its open-source architecture makes all of these things possible. The customization is endless; you can install various plugins (known as add-ons), to make Firefox your very own. You can customize the theme, the search engines, and the extensions, which are like mini-applications in the browser. For example, I have FoxyTunes, which lets my control my music player through the browser; ChatZilla, so I can chat on IRC through the browser; StumbleUpon, so I can find new and interesting websites; and FlashGet, so I have more control over my downloads. The possibilities are endless. And, it was one of the first browsers to use tabbed browsing, which is amazing.

One thing I've noticed about Firefox is that it tends to be a system resources hog. I've had Firefox from version 0.9, and ever since then they've been adding stuff into the browser that you can't get via plugins, and with every new release it's been hogging more and more resources. But that's only one drawback, and it's not that big of a difference if you have very few plugins installed.
