There is one rule for posting in this thread.... West Coasters need to be cautious b/c there may be spoilers!  Otherwise, anyone who watches want to share their thoughts from week to week ?

I'll start.  Shambo rocks.  I thought she was funny and also did pretty well at the puzzle at the start even though she doubted herself.  I think she might make it far.  Russell H (the short white one) is either going to dig a hole for himself and get sent home early.... or win the whole darn thing.  The fact that he doesn't want nor need the money actually means he has nothing to lose and might be more willing to take risks.  I like Betsy, the police officer as well.

They showed so much of the yellow team that I hardly know the purple team though.  It looks like it will be an interesting one!

OMG that guy Russell is an absolute piece of.... well, you get my drift.  I thought he was horrible! Dumb Blonde alliance, lying about being in New Orleans for Katrina, emptying everyone's water...   I hope they catch on to him quickly!

I do have a question, though... why were the men competing in underwear? Did they not bring shorts or bathing suits this year? I don't get it and, frankly, I found it to be a bit offensive.

Russell thinks he is "running the game" but I think he's going to find out that he doesn't really know how to win it!  He's sabatoging the team and eventually they are going to catch on.  He can't just go destroying people's things (surprised that's even allowed) and dumping out their food and water.  Eventually someone is going to get wise and realize someone is doing it.

OMG I hate that!  I was just telling my husband - I know they usually make them stick with their "outfit" that they wore and that's all they get.  Eventually they give them their bathing suits and eventually tennis shoes when they need them.  Well my trick would be to wear something comfy right off the bat.  Like comfy shorts UNDER pants haha.  That way you'd have 2 outfits :)  But maybe they say that isn't allowed.  I just don't get why these girls show up in dresses and high heels.  I wouldn't even PACK that stuff for survivor.

That's what I don't get.  That one guy was wearing a full suit!!! If I were rolling in to be part of Survivor, I'd have my bathing suit on under a t-shirt and shorts, and maybe even a sweatshirt and some kind of pants on over that if they allowed it.

I've been watching the show for YEARS and I've NEVER seen men competing in their boxer briefs before.  I missed the first couple of minutes last night so I just assumed that I missed some strange wardrobe twist or something.  It must present some difficulty for them during the water and swimming challenges.  Can't really do full-body shots as they come out of the water or after the challenges, can you?

What does Russell think he's doing by sabotoging his team? I think the police officer is on to him (if only a "gut feeling") and will slowly convert the others.

But I agree, Shambo rocks! I hope she stays until the finals.

I thought it was a great first show! I absolutely can't stand Russell and hope they all figure him out and boot him soon. The boxer briefs look a bit inappropriate, especially on him! Ick.

Can't wait until next week!

well Nj I think there were people walking around in boxers and boxer briefs before... but they could pull it off so we didn't notice as much.  I've decided their MUST be rules as to what they can wear b/c they all show up that way.  They must tell them to wear something they'd wear to work or on a normal day, b/c otherwise you'd think there would be a lot more ppl wearing convertible pants (pants that become shorts) so they could be comfy in all tempatures.

onwaytozion, I don't have a clue what he thinks he's doing by getting rid of the water and such.  So say it does weaken them... then they lose every challenge and they all go home.   That doesn't seem like the way to win the game!  I think he said it all when he said he doesn't need the money.  He's playing the game just to mess with them.  It's like "The Mole".  If you haven't seen that show, basically there was a "mole" that was out to make the people lose money.

Laurie, I agree great first show.  Funny thing is ppl are actually saying they will STOP WATCHING if Russell keeps getting as much air time.  Ppl gotta relax.  This is reality tv and they are going to show whoever is making it the most interesting.  I don't think he'll make it as far as he thinks.

Russell is a snake. It looks like Shambo may be headed on the way out in the future.

Shambo had such potential!  But she screwed up with the fish thing.  I always think people should work in pairs on things like that.  If someone else would have gone with her, they would have seen how hard it was to get fish and not acted like she was an idiot for not getting any.

What did you think of Yasmin telling the other tribe how bad she thought they were.  There have only been 2 challenges!  It's not like her tribe was winning 10 in a row, it was only 2!

I thought Yasmin was all drama. She basically put a huge target on her back. If she is still around when the merge happens, I can assume she will be out QUICK!

Yasmin is nuts, too bad she's on the OTHER tribe and they didn't hear the whole speech!  I hope there is some twist where a person from Foa Foa get's to go visit Galu.  Because then that person can tell Yasmin's tribe how crazy she was when she came over.  Otherwise her tribe may never realize what she did and not vote her off right away.

I like that they focused on Shambo so much during the last show. (But that usually means they're leaving soon!)

I'm interested to see how Russell explains why he changed his vote, after he declared that HE was in charge of his tribe!

Shambo really made friends on the other tribe.  I hope she sticks it out at least until the merge!  The trouble is, her tribe doesn't like her much so they might cut her first chance they get :(

I think Russell will say that it was more important to make Jaison happy then to get rid of Ashley.  Ashley is weaker anyway, I don't see why they were so concerned with her forming a "girls" club.  I'm sure Russell will spin it to say he's in charge.

What about the other Russell?  He choose comfort to please the women but didn't really please the men!  I think comfort is nice but the number one thing I thought of was who cares if you have a pillow if it gets all wet and dirty?  You know it will!  I'd want the tarp for sure.

Finally, I wonder how long the leaders will be leaders?  Do they just get to keep making decisions forever?  I kind of like the "leaders" twist because it makes for these quick decisions, but at the same time it will probably put a target on their backs.

Shambo is from near where I used to live, so have to root for the Washington native!  I think she is alienating herself though, and it could be tough for her to form an alliance later in the season.

lmfao Everyone hates Russell!! I too think Russell is a weasel and would NEVER want to work for that man EVER!!! But I hope he goes really far!! It makes for great tv. I thought it was soo funny when he gave each one of the girls on his side a nickname on the first day so he wouldn't forget who they were lol!! Burning the socks and dumping out the water was so funny. I love villans and he's the perfect one. Since he's already a millionaire we'll see how far he can really go. WOO HOO goooo survivor!

I missed last night's show (Oct. 8th). Can anyone fill me in?

I used to write recaps but lately haven't been getting hits so I've been taking a break from it.  But here is a quick "what I remember":

Some of the guys on Galu realized they must have an immunity idol if Foa Foa does.  They got Shambo to spill the clues.  One of the guys found the idol when everyone else was off doing chores.  I don't remember who found it.

Three members from each tribe were sent on a mystery challenge.  They found out they had to play some kind of ball/horseshoe game.  The winners got to take home chickens and some other foods.  The Purple Galu team won AGAIN after Dave got a real lucky shot right next to the post.

We are finally seeing some activity from the Galu team.  A lot of people complaining that Yasmin is lazy and does nothing.  Then a lot complaining about Shambo in general.  Shambo let one of the chickens out by accident and lost it - just another reason for them to dislike her.

The challenge had them doing a bunch of things - running across nets, then stacking blocks really high, then going across ropes, and finally stacking blocks even higher. It was neck in neck, but Galu (purple) jumped ahead going across the ropes... that is until Monica went.  She went so slow that the Yellow team caught up.

Once again it was neck in neck as they stacked the final blocks.  Purple team was trying to do the last 3 blocks all at once but dropped them, so Yellow team were doing it 1 block at a time and won!  Back at camp, Russell (team leader) wanted Monica to go for sure.  He said she lost the challenge for them b/c she was so slow the other team caught up.  However everyone else wanted Yasmin to go, even though she kicked butt at the challenge.  According to them, her laziness at camp means more than how well she does at challenges.  So Yasmin went home, Monica got 2 votes.

This is what I didn't get: No one from Foa Foa was asked to go sit in on Galu for a day?  The last two weeks, someone from Galu went to sit in with Foa Foa, but this week that twist didn't happen.  I have to wonder why?  It's kind of unfair to Foa Foa that they had a spy for 2 weeks but they don't get to spy on the other team in return.

Oh, and finally, it started raining and looks like it will be raining for days and days next episode.  That's the summary of what I remember, I'm sure it's enough :)

Has anyone heard how Russell is doing, or do we have to wait for the finale for an update? (Russell who left the show, not Russell who insists that he's running things.)

It was a really sad show, first with all the rain dampening the spirits of the contestants, then with a casualty, and yes, vivasuzi, no pizza!

Jeff said it was the most frightening moment on the show ever, and I don't think that was said just to boost ratings!

Actually I haven't looked to see how Russell is, but let me take a look now!

Here's a good article:

http://tvwatch.people.com/2009/10/24/survivor-russell-has-false-memories-of-medical-emergency/

The rain sucked sucked sucked, but I couldn't believe how little the contestants were doing to get out of the rain!  I talked to 3 people who all agreed that they would have been ripping down any and all palm fronds they could find to at least cover themselves from the rain somewhat.  It seemed like everyone was just sitting around getting wet.  What do you do when you are at the park and a storm starts?  You run under a tree for cover!  I know it's not that simple, but I would have been at least trying to cover myself up better and i'm sure a dozen or so palm fronds would help.

I do believe Jeff was seriously scared and he did not know what to do.  That is why he made that snap decision to end the challenge.  He was obviously not thinking straight because he said 'no one gets pizza' when I was thinking 'why not say Everyone gets pizza?'   So I figured he just made the quick decision to get everyone else out of there.

I don't remember the teaser, but I don't need the teasers to be excited :)  I can't wait to see what happens and who Russell decides to actually stick with.  And those 2 idols are still out there.  We haven't heard about them in awhile.

HOLY COW!  I am sooo tired of Russell (the oil guy) finding the idol. Again!  I do love the constant backstabbing and blindsiding.  LOL.  Thursday night was no different.  It was pretty good.  The blindside was awesome by John.

When are they going to figure out that this guy is a putz.  You gotta have one in each of the survivor series.  I hope he goes all the way to the end and doesn't get any of the votes to win.  I can hardly wait for the finale because everyone from Soma will find out what he said about them.  I hope Dr. McD (for delicious) from the Foa Foa Tribe wins the whole thing.

It's great how they constantly panned the two jury members during the vote off.  They were loving the kaos within the tribe.

I am so NOT tired of it :)  Because I think it's hilarious how those idiots keep thinking they are safe when they are not - awesome!!  Oh yeah, John changing his vote was awesome.  I think for the first vote, he stuck with his tribe just in case something different happened.  Then with the second vote, I just loved it!  Dave and Monica are in troubbbbllllle now.

Trouble is, I bet if he does go all the way to the end, people will vote for him just because they'll say he got all of them out so he's good.  But the preview for next week made it look like it might be the end for Russell.  We'll see!  I don't see how he could blindside anyone at this point.  Shambo is suddenly running the game (according to the preview)

Who is Dr McD?  Mick?  Yeah he has been laying low and I'd be happy if he won it.  Jaison would be fine too.  At this point I don't care who wins, I am just glad Laura is gone!

The jury was classic :)  That reminds me, I keep forgetting this season to go to cbs.com to see the videos from Ponderosa (where the survivors go when they get kicked off).  Going now :)

I love Russell.  When the show first started I thought this guy was a jerk but, he has turned out to be one of my favorite players.  There has been nobody on Survivor that has ever found the hidden idols without any clues.  Now we know why he owns his own oil company.  I also think he is playing so good because he doesn't have anything to loose.  This is my all time favorite shows.

Another great episode last night!  This show is proving that when you FEEL safe, you aren't.  When you think you are running the game, you aren't :)  Great season.  Do you think John would have stayed if he shared his pie?

Like Mary said, russell has nothing to lose so he really plays this game hardcore.  Many of the others are wishy washy and not sure what they want to do, but Russell always says this is what he's gonna do and that's that.  He doesn't second guess himself which is another reason he's made it so far.  I really hope he wins the thing but previews show that the others may be on to him.

Ok so the season ends this week!  I can't wait :)  Thursday 1 or 2 more people will go home (I'm not sure exactly) and then it all comes down to Sunday finale and voting. So here's a little survey:

Who do you WANT to win?

Who do you THINK will win? (it's not always who you want)

And who do you think get's sent home next?

My answers - I want Russell to win but think it will be Mick or Brett.  Honestly I'd be happy if they won too but Russell deserves it the most.  I think Russell might get sent home next but maybe he will flip the tables on them and get rid of one more Galu!
