Nope, have you?  I heard this might be good for anyone, even non-star trek fans like me but I am still not too keen on seeing it.

I've seen it. Really liked it. We're seeing it again tomorrow but this time in an IMAX theater.

In the meantime Fardreamer wrote a great review about it at http://www.viewpoints.com/Star-Trek-review-232f

Lots of action, some suspense, romance - well paced with a great cast. I do think it's good for everyone including non-trekkies.  : )

No, but it looks really good.  I'm not usually into that kind of thing, but I really want to see it.

I saw it.............it was very, very good!!!    Hubby is a hard-core trekkie and he did not like it because it did not match up to what he read years ago of what the history of Captn Kirk, Spock, and the gang was.  This movie did not follow the "old written" history that he knew of, so he is not a fan of this movie.   As far as I am concerned, I did not read any book of their history prior to seeing the movie, so I thought the movie was excellent.  And so does a lot of my friends and family.

Yes, I have seen it and really liked it. It seems Star Trek is back and better than ever. I was happy to be able to see a Star trek movie again. It was interesting that history was changed but in reality, it all comes down to the fact that this is an alternate reality. So in aways, Vulcan was not detroyed and Kirk's father lived longer. All in all, it was a good movie and I am glad that Star Trek is back!

I liked it. Sure, I was skeptical at first since Paramount ran the franchise nearly into a black hole, but it turned out to be really a fun movie to watch.

I saw it and really liked it and I am not much of a sci fi fan.

The problem with your hubby's strict adherence to Trek lore as published in the books, especially the novels, is that Paramount and Star Trek movie/TV series don't accept them as "canon," or what we might think of as The Official Story.  There have been many instances of authors in Star Trek fiction which purportedly tell "official-sounding" tales about how Character X or Minor Guest Villain Y may have really been in the untold Star Trek tales, but only the five live-action series and the 11 features are canon.  (The only exception was when certain events from the Star Trek animated series episode "Yesteryear" were mentioned in a Next Generation episode - Unification: Part One - because it was a good bit of the Spock back-story.)

The Star Trek movie really rocks! It is non-stop action from start to finish and has a great plot too.

I saw it twice. It was fantastic! I'm not really up on all the Trekkie stuff, so I wasn't put off like some Trekkies were by the deviations in the storyline. It's one of the few movies I've ever seen where the actors chosen to play a father/son pair (Capt. Kirk and his dad) actually looked like they could be related. I know it's not really an important detail, but it bugs me when I see movies where the parent looks nothing like the supposed child. Too unrealistic.

The special effects were spot on though! Great movie! I highly recommend it! :o)
