I am an NBC girl. From the Today Show, to their sister stations CNBC and MSNBC most of the shows I watch are on or were on NBC. I am a big Law and Order fan, and I love love love the Office.  But I think they are loosing their programing touch. Five nights a week at 10 pm is abut five times a night too many for Jay Leno. I didn't watch him on the Tonight show, but this non-Tonight Show -- or I don't know, Tonight Show Light, is just bad. And although it is a talk show, they still have to pay writers, so I am not sure how much money they are saving with this move.

Thoughts?

Yep. The broadcast networks, sadly, don't want to spend money on scripted dramas or comedies unless they know they'll survive.  NBC is really bad at this as of late.

Some of the shows they come up with are crazy though and anyone with a half of a brain knows they won't stick.

Then again, look at Glee. I don't watch it but it's almost a cult favorite (on twitter at least) and I thought it was the lamest show ever cooked up. I still think it is lame but many others love it. A show really does need to be given a chance before being pulled. It takes time for people to find it and to warm up to it.

I remember when ER first came on. It was slow going for a little while. What if they had yanked that show? I watched it for years! But it took me a while to remember when it was on, to get to know the characters, and to get hooked.

I also had that same situation with Nip/Tuck. That is not on a typical station but it was sooooooooooo out there that I thought I would hate it. Well, I watch with a sense of shock, horror, and amusement and have since the show started. I never would have guessed it would have survived considering the subject matter and crrraaazzyyy storylines. Sometimes, I guess, networks have to take a chance and stick with a show for a while to see if it grows legs so to speak.

Part of the problem, though, is that the traditional over-the-air networks are under way too much pressure to bring viewers (especially the 18-34 male demographic) in front of the TV set, but it seems that the way we watch TV now works against the pre-cable, pre-Internet business model.

in regards to writing letters to get Kings back on the air.  That just might work!

Family Guy was pulled off the air and then brought back a few years later due to popular demand!  The had put the two seasons on DVD and couldn't believe how many people purchased them.  I know Family Guy isn't everyone style, but just wanted to make a point that demand it if you want it!  It just might work :)

I saw 2 episodes of Glee and I did think it was cute - but not cute enough to make room for it on my DVR :)  ER is one of those shows that I never ever watched, I maybe saw half a season in the middle there but that was it.

I tend to like the out-there shows too Patty and I think it's because it is different!  A lot of the storylines that other "new" shows have are not that new or different.
