Slimy and gross.

Comments about Mountain High Original Style Plain Yogurt:

I like to get plain yogurt with nothing added to it so that I am able to buy different fruits that are in season and cut them up to add to my yogurt. I got this because my normal kind was out of stock and this was a new item, I like to try new things. I got it home and had some great peaches, so I cut them up and put them in it and stuck it back into the fridge. The morning I woke up and wanted to have it as my breakfast, it is great for an on the go kind of thing and something that I always have time for. When I opened it I realized that it looked so watery on the top, a lot more than anything normal. I mixed it up really good hoping that was all it needed and I realized it was still really watery. It had such a slimy and gross consistency to it, It made it really hard to swallow this down and it made the taste not at all enjoyable. I did not try any of the other flavors of this because it completely turned me off of it, I hate yogurt that is slimy and it makes it way too hard to eat it.

Mountain High Plain Yogurt is great in sweet and savory dishes.

Comments about Mountain High Original Style Plain Yogurt:

I bought this yogurt in hopes that I could use it as a substitute for sour cream.  My husband loves all Mexican type foods and loves a dollop of sour cream (or more) on everything!  Well, first I tried low fat and fat free styles of sour cream.  Not worth it.  They are tasteless and the texture is very gelatin like.

So I bought this yogurt because it was on sale that week (even cheaper than the store brand) and I had heard yogurt is a good sour cream substitute.  I first used it on top of nachos.  Not only did my husband not notice the substitution, he said he really liked the flavor!  Home run!

Less than half the calories plus flavor equals one healthy and happy family!

Since then, I use this on everything: soups, sandwiches, burritos, fruit, etc.  If it calls for cream, sour cream, mayonnaise, or cottage cheese you can try subbing this yogurt.

This yogurt is a great value because it is one of the cheaper brands of yogurt, but it definitely has high end flavor and texture.

One more tip then I am finished, if your recipe calls for greek yogurt put this plain yogurt in a fine mesh sieve and put over a bowl.  Let it sit in the fridge for at least four hours and whey will drain out.  When it stops draining, you've got something akin in texture and consistancy (not taste, sorry) to greek yogurt for half the price.
