Motorola - W490 Cell Phone Review

I've had the Motorola W490 for just under a year now and have had problems with it twice. I purchased it in Oct 2007. In June 2008 the screen started going. it would be either all white or all black on the internal screen, then after day or so, the external screen starting doing the same thing. the only way I could get it to work was to take the battery out for a couple minutes, then put it back in and turn it on and leave it flipped open. if I closed the flip, the screen wouldn't work the next time I opened it.

after a couple more days the ringtones weren't working properly, the text messages were mixed up, and the phone was overall working so slowly (for me to enter in #'s or texts, playing games, using the calandar, etc)

I called my provider in June and was sent a replacement phone which has started having the same problems now (Sept 2008). I contacted my provider again and they offered to send me ANOTHER of the same phone, so I contacted Motorola directly and I now have to ship the phone to them so they can repair it.

Not sure how well that's going to work.

I loved the phone when I got it. the camera is great, much better than the razr. the screen is a good size. it was thinner than the razr but looked similar which I liked. can use a memory card. good colors.

I also did some searching online and found a few different forums where there are quite a few people who have the same problems with this model phone.

Save yourself the hassle, don't get a Motorola W490.
