I use the the "old school" razr phone from Motorola, and I find that it is great for those of us who do not need all of the bells and whistles that some of the more "techie" crowd may want and/ or need. It is very durable and provides a good quality service, for everyday use. I have used and abused mine for several years, and have only had to replace it once due to failure, and this includes dropping it on pavement, getting it wet in the rain, and basic everday wear and tear. The reception is very consistent and sound quality is very good. It was initially very inexpensive and requires very little maintenance. It is small enough and lightweight, the battery has decent life span and stays charged, you can buy acessories realitively inexpensively for it, and the are soo common as to find items like cases, covers, etc. easy. I do not text very often, so i am not really an expert on that subject area, but basic texting in brief messages is fairly simple and effortless.
