With such a flimsy looking little clamshell type case, the Motorola RAZR v3 cell phone has really surprised me. Sure, the RAZR style a few years ago was all the rage, but that's not why I got it. I got it because it was free to me with my plan from AT&T (of which I'm *not* a fan, but that's for another review) AND because it was all the rage. With this phone I thought 'no way could a cool looking phone be functional'. I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. Yes, I had heard many bad things about this phone from friends before I got it, but maybe I was just lucky because I've never had a major problem with it. And that's not because it's been babied; it's been beaten up, dropped, kicked, and sweated on, and it still works like a champ.

What I like: The sound quality is really good. The keys are big and easy to press. The inside screen is big enough and easy to read. The battery lasts quite a long time when talking, and there are many other great features built in like a camara that also takes video.  Of course most surprisingly is that the clamshell mechanism still opens and closes almost like new after more than a year.

I also really like the Motorola word completion function for text messaging.  The predictive text feature on this this phone is the best I've ever used.  I guess I also should point out that I love the Bluetooth integration function which makes file transfers easy (although you have to buy the Motorola Phone Tools suite to take full advantage of the integration capabilities).

What I don't Like: My version of the phone did not come with a built-in Mini-SD card slot for upgrading the memory, and the internal 8MB memory is not enoug.  Also, the battery life while good, could be a little bit better.  Finally, after more than a year of use, the silver finish is starting to slowly rub off the back.   Additionally, while having a standard USB mini-jack port to charge and transfer files with it is great, on some computers you need to install drivers even if you just want to charge - which doesn't make sense.

Conclusion:
A great little phone that's cool, durable, packed with features, has great sound quality, and is very easy to see, use, and operate.  It's loaded with features, and as long as you don't plan to break a world record for talk time on one charge, the battery should last a plenty long time.
