I have had this phone since it was released in July 2006. Just prior I had a Palm 700w and in the past I have used the Blackberry. If you are like me and make extensive use of Microsoft Outlook, then this phone is for you. It is super thin, and synchs calendar, contacts and e-mail like a champ. I... review »

The Motorola Q is a PDA and phone combination.  I have an add-on software from GOOD, and the Q synchs wirelessly and continuously with our corporate e-mail server.  It has a great size (about as slim as the Razr) and its functions are very useful.  I would have given it a 5-star rating, except for... review »

THE ORIGINAL MOTOROLA Q

Bought this "smartphone" because it was supposed to do more than you would expect from and cell phone. It did do everything alright, let me check and write e-mails, play select games on the web, get the current weather information but when it came to sending text messages there was one BIG flaw ... it wouldn't let me attach pictures - nor would it let me see text forwards with pictures on it. On my old phone it may have taken off the picture and i was able to read the message, but on the Q it sent me a msg saying they had to "re-work" the text, but that's all I got. Was...

I have had my Motorola Q since November of last year, and this is my fourth phone so far. The operating system crashed less than a month after i got it, and i lost all my data. The problems with each subsequent phone have been too numerous to list, but i cannot depend on it to keep up with my data and so i still have to write everything down. What's the point of having a "smartphone"?

I've had my Q for a few months now, and I've become very dependent on it.  I use it more for checking e-mail (through Gmail's mobile application, not Outlook) and Facebook than for actually making calls.  I keep the Task Manager front and center on the home screen, as the Q is a total memory hog that doesn't close programs when you exit them.

Huzzahs: 3G data, 3G data, 3G data.  The keyboard is decent, but not as good as a BlackBerry (which has larger, concave buttons).  The tic-tac buttons on the Q work, but you have to press them hard.  I could type out messages faster on my BlackBerry,...

I would definitely recommend this for most simple smartphone wannabees.  The only drawbacks are the battery life, which is not so good.  Even with the fatter extended battery, it still only lasts a few days between charges with minimal use.  At least with my Verizon service, it is not broadband internet either.  Otherwise, the keyboard and screen are both readable and usable.  The Windows system allows perfect and simple synchronization with my desktop, which means all my addresses and appointments are in my hand.  Phone quality is excellent, too!  The simple snap-in belt holder works very... review »

This phone is great. It finally allowed me to get rid of my PDA and even my MP3 player. It pretty much does it all. Overall quite happy with the performance and features.

The camera is pretty average, and the video recorder is ok.

The keyboard is much easier to use than some of the other smartphones, there seems to be a bit more space between the keys.

One negative is that my service provider doesn't provide MS Office Mobile.

The moto q is a nice smart phone the qwerty keyboard is pretty much the best feature.  The phone's drawbacks are the video quailty is crap, and the phone can't send pictures!!! How dumb is that?  I don't strongly recommend this phone, but it's really not that bad of a phone.  Anothr good feature is it has windows media player you can download music onto.  The background and screensaver options were pretty bland.

Overall I like the Q. It's a great phone but promised much more, that I don't think it delivered. I was looking for something to combine my PDA and phone and the Q looked like it would fit the bill. The first thing I noticed was the battery life was terible. The battery would only last about half a day with moderate use. After upgrading to a extended life battery it had no problem staying on for about two days without charging. Another thing that has been happening often lately is after a night on the charger the battery isn't charged. I believe its because the data/charging port is becoming... review »

My husband and I both purchased the Q after getting rid of our Sprint service (after they erased every single contact in my phone). At first we loved it, great for texting, easy to check email on the web enabled sites and the sound quality on the actual phone was good. Recently we noticed that the phone doesn't seem to hold a charge. At all. I unplug my phone as I leave for work, commute for about an hour then turn it off when I get to work. I turn it on when I get back in the car at the end of the day and often by the time I get home (an hour later) the battery is already down from three... review »

Carrier: Sprint

Replaced my aging Treo 600 since I wanted a higher resolution screen and camera. Wanted the Samsung Blackjack but unfortunately it's not carried by Sprint.

Like the phone size and after many changes to the settings am actually getting battery life that I can live with. (Seach the web for power saving tips or your battery will not even make it 14 hours in standby without dying.)

Biggest drawback is that moving from the Palm/Treo operating system to the Windows Mobile makes me wonder why Microsoft is so bad at what they do. Menus and selections are completely non-intuitive and common...

I upgraded from Motorola's RAZR to the Q a couple months ago.  (My husband inherited the RAZR!)  I really needed a convenient and portable calendar, and this one is very intuitive to use.  The keyboard is also very easy to use.  Windows Media Player is just an added bonus, but one I really like.  I have wanted an mp3 player almost as long as I've wanted a PDA, so this phone is perfect for me.  I'm already used to using Media Player, so I didn't have to learn another system.  I bought a 2GB card, and that holds quite a bit of music as .wma files.  I know I don't use all of the features of... review »

I usually receive my Husband hand me down for my new phone. So when he gave me the Motorola Q I was very excited. I am addicted to the texting thing and this phone is great for the constant texter. The phone was only a few months when he gave it to me because he needs a very reliable phone that can do e-mail, internet , appoinments etc...he would have it shave him in the morning if it would. I just use the phone for very basic needs: calls, texting , etc.. I find it a little bulky and seams to act up alot the buttons are exposed which I don't like to much because everytime I go to answer the phone... review »

I have been greatly disappointed with the Moto Q.  I've personally have had mine replaced 4 times (in 6 months) due to manufactor defects, once after only a week! Either the speaker phone doesn't work, the keys are overly sensitive, it randomly openes and closes programs, or just plain freezes/locks.  (And once it locks it takes the Sprint Techs to unlock it on my current one)  If you actually want to use the Moto Q for emailing be prepared for it to slow considerably and your battery life to drop to about an hour.  I have had to develope the habit of going in and deleting all of the temp files... review »

I purchased the Silver Motorola Q on a whim. I wanted something similar to a Blackberry and after fidgeting with a friend's new Q impulsively made the purchase. After all was said and done (phone, accessories, etc.) I paid nearly $500, which could have gotten me an IPhone a few short months later!

Issues with the phone:
Internet not convenient.
Never keeps a charge; by mid-afternoon I have a "dead" phone.
Can't purchase ring-tones.
Poor audio.
Camera not so great.
Receive error messages constantly (draining battery)
Frequently unable to receive or send MMS messages
Key pad went loopy...
