I thought the Moto KRZR was going to be a great phone, and for the first nine months I had it, it operated perfectly. I used to work for Verizon Wireless, so I had checked the background of the phone's operation and possible defects before I decided to upgrade to this relatively new phone. I loved the slimness of it, and the color options were fantastic and stylish. I even bought my sister one, because I hadn't heard of anything negative with this phone.
Recently, though, we have both noticed that the ringer doesn't always work, the text messages often won't go through, and recently, my phone rings for five minutes or more (long after the caller has hung up, my phone shows they are still calling). Sometimes, when I open my phone, it shows a white screen, then black, then it freezes up until I take the battery out for a few minutes.
One of the pros is the service provided by Verizon is excellent, and I get reception in many places that fellow Verizon customers cannot receive calls.
I have noticed that many Verizon phones require occassional upgrades to the equipment to keep the phone working correctly...I don't know if this is a problem with the equipment or the service provider. But you run the risk of losing your phone numbers and pictures when you upgrade your software, and it takes anywhere from 30-90 minutes. Plus, Verizon won't fix your phone unless you can duplicate the issue, which is hard, because the issues are intermittent.
I can't wait until my upgrade comes up so I can either cancel or get a new phone that doesn't act up. But if minor problems like not hearing your ringer all the time or missing your alarm clock, the KRZR is a really cool looking phone...but I would never buy one again!
