I have really bad luck with phones.  Seems like every year I buy a new cordless phone system because the current system we own goes on the blink or just mysteriously stops working altogether. Our latest phone, the Motorola 5.8 Digital Cordless Phone w/ Answering Machine, MD7161-3, has held up awesomely for a long time and we are very happy with it.

When you buy a house phone, rarely do you get excited over the prospect of going to the store to pick one out. Usually you just assume that one phone is as good as the next. With the Motorola E51, that is not the case. The handsets are the perfect size, not too big, not too small, and very solidly built. The caller id screens are large, clear and easy to read with a very nice orange glow.
