Boost Mobile currenly offers two phones. I purchased the Motorola C290 for $99 six months ago. The phone has been seen on sale for $89 on occasion. For the most part it costs $99 at most locations. I have never had the obvious local competitor's service, Metro PCS. When I purchased my phone the price of phones and plans were comparable. I decided on Boost Mobile because I liked its image better. I did feel a little trepidation on purchasing a $100 phone, but I'm very happy with the phone and service.
I pay $40 per month, a bargain compared to the charges I accrued on the "pay as you go" phone I had before. With this one, I call everywhere, as much as I like. One time we went to an out of the way area where I had to pay extra. It just did not allow me to call unless I deposited more money. And that was swell, for I did not loose the use of my phone. Up to date the service has been reliable. I am on a budget and do not use any of the frills. My phone has a button for automatic Internet access. I would have to pay $5 more for this service, as well as, for text messaging. I have not tried any of the entertainment options offered, although I'm told that some of them are free of charge. Some of these are quite useful, such as a GPS service.
The Motorola C290 is quite nice. For a small phone, it has a giant screen which allows for easy reading. I find the buttons and other phone components adequate. I imagine that this is good for many different types of people. The phone has an appealing design. It does not have a sleek look, but it looks modern and less chinzy than many. I recomend this phone.
