Nice but bulky

This was my first bluetooth headset. While overall I liked this product, there were some things that could be left to be desired. First of all, I liked the form of this bluetooth headset. When in use or charging, it has a nice subtle blue glow. It also folds up and is quite compact, which is great for someone on the go, where you could just slip it into your pocket or a bag. However for some people they may not like it because it would be easy to get lost. Which I didn't like so much about it is that the ear hook isn't customizable, and for people wearing glasses or have small ears, it hangs and falls off quite easily. However for people with larger ears this would be a great product for them to use. To get it to bind with your phone, you have to do steps which are quite confusing at times (open boom mic piece, hold button down for x amount of seconds), if you do not have the instructions in front of you, you will be lost.

Motorola Hs850 works, but also has its cons

The Motorola HS850 is a sleek, sturdy bluetooth for cell phones. It comes with a charger and an earpiece and instructions. It took about twenty minutes to pair my cell phone and my G1 to the bluetooth. I'm not sure why, I read the instructions properly. Anyhow, after getting connected it seemed to work well, as I got a phone call and it made the noise in my earpiece. I answered and could head clearly. The person on the otherhand said they could hear a lot of background noise. He sometimes couldn't even hear me. This was of great concern as I am on the road a lot, and need something that doesn't pick up the road noise. I learned that this isn't the best bluetooth if you work with noise around you as it will pick up every little noise. Another thing I wish it did was tell me when I got a text message. That would be a really nice feature, but I haven't found a bluetooth like that yet. Even though it has it's problem, it works for basic needs.

**The good:** The Motorola U9 offers an attractive design, a decent music player with stereo Bluetooth, and an appealing display. **The bad:** The Motorola U9's controls are flat and slippery and its memory card is in an inconvenient location. Its menus can be sluggish and its photo quality is poor. **The bottom line:** The Motorola U9 is a mostly reliable music phone with an eye-catching design. We had a few complaints, but it makes up for its deficiencies with good call quality. **Specifications:** Band / mode: GSM 800/1900; Talk time: Up to 255 min; Combined with: With digital camera / digital player;

Never having used bluetooth technology I was hesitant but the Motorola HS850 is great.  It takes up little space, fits on my ear well and comfortably, and was easy to get to work on my cell phone.  Its great for long conversations at home or on the road or for those sessions where you have to make many short phone calls.  Great buy also!!

The HS850 is a perfect combination of technology & practicality.

The *Motorola* **HS850** is one of the new generations of Bluetooth headsets that support the Bluetooth v1.2 spec, whereas most headsets support v1.1 only. Motorola claims that when used with a v1.2 compatible phone, the HS850 will be able to connect faster, use less battery power, and offer improved audio quality. The black and oblong **HS820** is a handsome bit of craftsmanship.  The small microphone/headset weighs less then 2 oz's, and is so light I often forget it is attached to my ear even after hours of wearing it.  The form-fitting ear-clip is fashioned with a soft rubber coating that makes it easy to slip the **HS850** over either ear even with glasses on.  In the middle of the headset body is a single multi-function button that not only turns the unit on, but also serves to connect the **HS850** to the phone via Bluetooth.  The button also can initiate and end phone calls.  Surrounding this button is a large blue LED emblazoned with the famous *Motorola *wings.  The LED glow solid when the headset is in active use, and it blinks slowly when in standby.         The top and bottom of the unit house volume control buttons, while the front of the unit is fitted with a folding microphone that shuts the headset off when folded against the body.  Unfolding the microphone arm turns the unit on.  In the back of the **HS850 **is where one plugs in the charger.  It just so happens that the *Motorola* V551 phone, which I also own, and the **HS850** share the same charger. Can you say instant spare? **Sound Quality** After using the **HS850 **headset for a little over six months I have to report that the sound quality is, if not stellar, pretty darn good.  Even at highway speeds the sound quality remains pretty constant, despite the fact that my *Ford Freestyle* is not the quietest crossover vehicle at speeds in excess of 55 miles per hour.  Despite the lack of a boom microphone I never have a problem making myself heard while speaking into the **HS850; **i.e. there is no need to shout!**  **Overall, I have not had any complaints from the people I call.  The **HS850** provides up to 200 standby time and up to 2 hours of talk time; I usually leave the headset in the car throughout the week and recharge over the weekend, though a typical re-charge only takes about 30 minutes.    **Conclusion** Small, extremely lightweight, attractive, and functional, the **HS850** fits my modest needs, and does it in style. The folding microphone design cleverly combines compactness with functionality for a novel, well-engineered and well-implemented package.
