MorningStar Farms Tomato & Basil Pizza Burgers —

The first time I made Morningstar Farms Tomato & Basil Pizza Burgers, I fell in love.  I've had veggie burgers before, but this was a completely different experience.

They Smell Yummy!  Everytime I cook up one of these Veggie Burgers, my family members come in and say it smells good, am I cooking Pizza?  Yes they do smell like Pizza!  However when I tell them it's a veggie burger, suddenly they are turned off.  Even thought they think it smells good, they are still not willing to try it.  I wish they would because these are some of the best Veggie Burgers I've ever had.

They Taste Yummy too!  If they would just give it a try, I think they would see these burgers taste yummy too.  It starts out as a basic Veggie Burger, but then they mixed in mozzerella cheese, basil and tomatoes.  Once you heat it up, the cheese becomes melty like a pizza and the tomatoes taste more like tomatoe sauce.  The burger itself doesn't end up tasting like pizza, but instead taste like a burger with great pizza flavor.

These are so Yummy, I usually eat them plain.  The fact that these burgers have cheese, basil and tomato flavoring makes it easy for me to eat them right out of the box for a healthier meal.  I usually don't use a bun, and I never add Ketchup or Mustard.  There are other veggie burgers out there that I am always drowning in condiments because they are so bland, but with the Tomato & Basil Pizza Burgers, I don't need to add anything.

Healthwise, they aren't bad either!  1 Burger is 6 grams of fat and 120 calories.  Only 1.5 grams of that is saturated fat.  You also get 10 grams of protein per burger.  Since I eat 2 patties, I figure I'm getting a pretty decent meal with lots of protein and not that much fat or calories. If you compared this to a fully loaded burger with cheese, ketchup. sauces and a bun, I you'd end up with way more calories.  A BK Whopper, for example, is 680 calories and 40 grams of fat!  I'm sure home cooked burgers are healthier, but I bet they aren't as healthy as one of these Morningstar Farms Pizza Burgers.

If you are looking for a lunch that is filling and tasty, have a Tomato & Basil Pizza Burger today!  One with a bun, or two without a bun is a great filling lunch for me and leaves me with lots of nutrients and protein to go about my day.  I usually don't even eat a sidedish after eating these.  Check these out at your local stores today and enjoy!!

Never hesitate with these :) They are the best of the bunch, even my meat-eater friends say so.

Haha, FYI, buy them at Target for good deals - MorningStar is usually on sale there. My local kroger has been selling them for way more lately (like 4.49-4.99) :( Target usually has them at 3.50ish

Yes but I believe you are more adventurous than my friends and family! They seem to be anti anything that isn't real meat.

These sound very good. I'll have to look for them! Anything with "pizza" in the name is tempting..hehe.

The regular ones are called grillers and they are decent - but they aren't really flavorful like these are :)

:( Too bad... sounds like it would be hard to eat a lot of stuff if you are allergic to that. Do you find egg whites in a lot of things?

GigiandAdonai wrote on Jan 5, 2009 at 5:38PM

I have some kind of Morning Star veggie burger in my freezer. I know it isn't pizza but now I'm wondering what kind it is. hmm...

Yep - meet free and tasty too :) Turkey burgers are a good option over regular burgers too.

Mainly Soy but the rest are listed on the website.

These sound like a nice alternative to the turkey burgers I have been eating.

Sounds like something I'd like. What are the ingredients?
