MorningStar Farms Bacon Strips are not bacon.  How's that for labeling?

     MorningStar Farms Bacon Strips
are not organic.  They're processed bigtime.

MorningStar Farms Bacon Strips have 44% less fat than real bacon.  Hurrah!

MorningStar Farms Bacon Strips smell great and taste good with other foods.

MorningStar Farms Bacon Strips nine servings cost under $3 at Trader Joe's.

Kellogg makes Bacon Strips in one or more of 19 countries. I'd think this would be in well-controlled environments, especially since Kellogg is trying to "green up" after several recent recalls (other products) and a threatened lawsuit for making less-than-nutritious children's cereals.
Out of the package, MorningStar Strips look like paintings of bacon on cardstock.  Ah... don't get your hopes up.  They look the same way in the frying pan, microwave or oven.  And on your plate!
Yet the aroma is a call to eat and, ultimately, the taste and crispness are very fine with your eggs, waffles, and toast or with salads and on-the-spot sandwiches.  (I've not tested how they'd do in a lunch box so don't know if they'd be soggy.)
If you try a Bacon Strip alone, you may notice a kind of residual mouth feel as you finish the Strip and possibly a little taste discrepancy.  But remember!  This is just an illusion of bacon in the first place.
If you're a vegetarian who has a memory of real bacon, this will be an excellent throwback minus the meat and lots of grease on your fingers.  But check the ingredients for there are some possible allergens among them.
For all of us adventurers, two Strips constitute a 60 calorie serving.  In total, you'll get 4.5g Fat (including 0.5g sat fat), no Trans Fat or Cholesterol, 230mg Sodium, 15mg Potassium, 2g Total Carbs and 2G Protein.
Frankly, I like MorningStar Bacon Strips a lot!  At two to four Strips a week, I'm pretty sure the smog will get me before MorningStar does.

Don't know whether you were there when Mom was dying the Malt-O-Meal red, green, and blue (on different days, of course). If only they'd had Target Ultra Weight Loss Shake back then. I still prefer not to have to chew at breakfast. Think it has something to do with wake-up effects from allergies.

I haven't eaten bacon in a long time but I love those turkey sausages! I haven't even eaten them for a while though as I have been on an oatmeal and hot cereal kick here lately. Remember all that hot Malto-O-Meal you and I used to put away in the morning when I lived with you guys when my Mom was at Mayo? Remember, your Mom would scatter a few chocolate chips on top and let them melt. YUM!

Hope that computer's still on the ball today! Afraid that the "facon" is crispy and probably wouldn't taste as good otherwise. Did I tell you there were casserole recipes using it and they're easily found online? Maybe it mellows out in that application, but I haven't tried it yet. When I was a kid, I only liked the fat and liked it better when it was kind of soft. Actually that thought repulses me now because I've been on the lower fat kick for so long. (Guess it isn't a kick anymore. More like a chronic condition.) More later. I've been laying more Flor tiles in the hall. Insulation as well as comfort.

Old Hippie is a fav of mine too. Now, a question about this bacon -- is it possible to make it chewy instead of crunchy. I've always been a little wierd about bacon -- prefer it not TOO crisp. Aunt Tatty has always been in the can't-be-too-crunchy ballpark. MorningStar incidentally is a good name -- can't remember where I've seen it before but it seems that it is a pretty good brand. To t ell you t he God's honest truth, I think a LOT of food we eat today -- however "natural" -- has a lot of chemistry in it.

The Yahoo guy was just here and gave me a new modem but he really couldn't tell what the problem was because -- YOU GUESSED IT -- when he was here, everything worked like a champ, of course. He put me on to some computer wizard here in Oak Park who could come in and help me clean up some of the mess on my dear old Dell, maybe take care of the problem printing from WordPerfect and later on help me install the new computer and transfer files over. This guy said this other guy was pretty reasonable. Actually, this was a very pleasant visit because the Yahoo guy's mom is into doll collecting and the guy was telling me how his Mom and I have a lot of the same things.

Well, take care! So far so good, I've been on ten minutes now and everything is STILL WORKING, WOW!

Love to all!

Old Hippie didn't think he was ready to try this anytime soon. I love his curmudgeonly comments. Actually, apart from the peculiar way this looks and the fact that this may be chemistry disguised as food, I'm pretty sure you'll like it. It fits the bill both fat and calorie-wise and it DOES taste very good.

I must be a cholesterol junkie. Give me the real thing. Sorry!

I appreciated that wicked little humor there about warning us not to confuse these with "Beggin' Strips" -- okay, cuz .... AS IF! You sure come up with interesting things. I haven't had a piece of bacon in I don't know when and these sound worth a shot!

They're pretty new, I think. Some interesting uses in casserole recipes online.

Sounds interesting. I have never heard of these.
