Moon Sand Toys Moon Sand Review Summary
Moon Sand Toys Moon Sand got a lot of attention when it first hit the market. Parents look for ways to entertain their kids and build their small motor skills. Unfortunately, Moon Sand is one toy that missed the mark. Kids enjoy playing with Moon Sand, but they get disappointed because it quickly dries out and fails to keep its shape. Parents are disappointed with this product because of its unpleasant odor and the difficulty they have cleaning up the mess from the sand. Moon Sand only got a 17% recommendation from parents. Their best advice is to stick with Playdough for an inexpensive toy that creates less mess.

buying for a kindergardener
My 5 year old son received a Moon sand play set for Christmas. He loves to play with it and it keeps him busy for a good amount of time, but it is so messy. He likes to play with it on the kitchen table. My table has a leaf so whenever he plays with it the sand gets stuck in the small spaces where the the table leaf fits in. Not to mention what gets all over the floor and on the chair. If you're not concerned with the mess then it's a good toy, otherwise you might want to take it outside or try something else like play-doh. —…

buying educational toys, cost-conscious, buying for 6-10 year olds
We bought a package of Moon Sand to take in my daughter's carry-on for a trip across country, thinking she could play with it during the flight. Big mistake! First off, security must have thought it was some sort of explosive in her bag, cause they thoroughly checked it out. Then when we opened it, we noticed an odd smell. The biggest issue was the mess though! We could have just as easily been using real sand. It went everywhere and wouldn't stick together as shown in the pictures. Don't waste your money on this product, buy some…

buying for a preschooler
My kids begged for moon sand forever and finally I bought them a package. It came with 2 colors purple and white. A few mold and a mat to play the sand on. They liked it at first, but then noticed it doesn't come out of the molds well. It breaks apart very easily. They could not make many things with moon sand. It is also the messiest thing I have ever bought for them. Moon sand was everywhere in my kitchen. Not fun for me at all. I will stick with play…

Moon Sand looks very appealing on the commercials. It is indeed fun to squish around in your hands, like playdough. However, my 3 and 6 year olds found it very difficult to actually mold anything with the sand as it shows in the pictures. In addition, as it is a sand-like material, we found it difficult to clean up. It was all over the floor and ground into one of my rugs. We only played with it a couple of times before we threw it out. It was just too much of a…

Moon Sand is really nothing to get excited about. Moon Sand does harden if left for a long period of time. It is very messy. They claim that it is neater than sand and easier to use than playdoh! NO WAY! It is sand, like wet sand at the beach. It allows you to make things and build sand castles but is definitely is not like playdoh. I wouldnt waiste my money or if you do only let the kids use it outside. —…
