USA's Monk is one of those shows that I love, but I don't always follow. What I love about Monk the most is that I don't have to watch every single episode to enjoy each individual episode. If I miss a few weeks, it's no big deal. Sure there may be minor plot details I miss, but overall each episode of Monk stands on it's own.
The Basic Plot
In general, this is how it goes down on Monk. A crime happens near the beginning. Unlike other cop/detective shows, we rarely see anything bloody or gory. The cops get called in to investigate the crime and ultimately they always call Monk for his...
Watching the Monk television show is like looking in a mirror. The nervous tics. The aversion to hugging. The need for routine. We both have obsessive compulsive disorder or OCD. While OCD is limiting, it can offer a viewpoint that pays attention to details. This viewpoint allows Adrian Monk to be a top crime solver although he can not deal with basic life. Helping him with basic life is his much put-upon assistant Natalie. The people he helps in the crime solving department are Stottlemeyer, a rugged detective, and Disher, the flaky detective. Monk used to be a detective until his wife was murdered,...
review »After watching the last half of the two-part season finale last Friday night, I dashed to the internet to see how many seasons of "Monk" were out on DVD. My Dad recommended the show to me a couple of years ago and I only recently started watching it on the USA Network ("characterswelcome"), and now I am hooked!
Tony Shaloub is absolutely perfect as the genius obsessive-compulsive homicide detective. Traylor Howard shines as his assistant Natalie Teeger, especially in the season finale.
In the season finale we see many characters from the past coming together. Monk is lured to a remote spot...
review »Monk is an amazing TV series that has been on for a few years now. Adrian Monk is a former homicide detective who was put on psychological leave after the car bombing murder of his beloved wife Trudy. Monk has always had problems but now they're really amplified. It just seems so wrong to laugh at a guy with so many problems. Mr. Monk definitely has Asbergers, and what his assistant, Natalie, and her daughter Julie, like to call issues. Mr. Monk is very particular and has obvious obsessive compulsive disorder to the point of hurting himself.
The series was made in a very Sherlock Holmes...
The TV show Monk is a great detective show. It's good for all audiences. The underlying storyline about finding the wife's murderer keeps you wanting to watch every episode to see what they uncover. Every episode has a new and wacky way of figuring things out and letting you have a little more insight into the head of Adrian Monk. Every episode is funny and it is a great show for families to watch together. I loved both of his assistants, Sheronna and Natalie, but I think that Sheronna as the original worked out great. Sheronna definately laid the groundwork for this show so that Natalie could...
review »Monk comes on both USA and SLUETH( more on slueth and are reruns) and is the most hillarious show I've ever seen. He plays a detective who solves cases and he solves them because of his OCD and photographic memory. The only case he hasn't solved is the death of his wife Trudy who died by a car bomb. He stills acts like she is still alive and he is still married to her even though he knows she isn't. H e was OCD before she died but it got worse when she died.
His brother Ambrose is just as bad as him because he want leave the house they grew up in. I believe his mother started it because...
review »monk makes me laugh so hard,he is just so funny and yet it totally explains the terrible uncontrolable feelings that move him to the situations he gets to.it makes me understand a little what my sis feels with her slight ocd.
the show is cool and shows a lot of details on the crimes, reminds me of the details on the dead like me series.i like natalie, think she kept the show alive, the story about her husband is very good and makes monk a bit less alone, besides i really liked her on 2 guys a girl and a pizza place.
disher rules
I didn't like Monk before because i always thought that it was a weird guy, but after waiting one of his show, i was impressed with the way he solves his cases. Even though he's weird in a way but he is the best at his job, and the thing he does with his hands and his head when analyzing a crime scene is really funny.
Every friday night i can't wait to get home and watch Monk. Now i can't wait for the summer to see what he is going to do because he found some clues about who's behind his wife's death.
I guess we'll see where it will lead him
This is my favorite TV show with Pysch. Love to watch them back to back. The stories are always funny and interesting. I love the way he figures out the cases. The actors are fantastic and work great together. I love Natalie and think she was a perfect replacement as his assistant. They go together well. The OCD is so humerous on the show it is hard to believe Tony doesn't really have it. What a great actor! He deserves every reward he gets! Keep them coming, please!
As far as I am concerned, Monk is the best show on TV and I am devastated that it is going to end!!! this is one of the few programs that I watch the reruns for and would buy the DVD set of all the shows to watch again and again. The acting is super, and even though it is a comedy, the characters are lovable and the plots interesting. Tony Shalub deserves every award he has won for this role and the way he has developed it. It is on the top of my watch list!!!
I was so very disappointed when I heard that this would be the last season. I have not had my fill of Monk yet.
I thought I was broken up when they added the Natalie character to the cast, well, this is really hard for me to take. Natalie is the only aspect of this show that stopped it from earning a full 5 star review from me.
I hope they come back & do a few specials and make sure they bring Sharonna back for some of them.
