Mission Storage Bench - Oak

I am a fan of Mission style furniture and was looking for a coffee table that would compliment both my end tables and my dining room table, which is just off the same room.

While shopping in Target, I noticed that they carried a wide variety of Mission style furniture but didn't have exactly what I wanted in a coffee table.  When I got home, I logged onto the computer and checked out Target.com.  Although the website had some of the same items as it did in the store, it also had a few other items as well.

This is when I decided that I didn't want a "classic" Mission style coffee table. I wanted something a little different with a function.  When I saw the Mission Storage Bench, I knew that this was my new "coffee table".

The Mission Storage Bench from Target.com now serves as my coffee table and also holds all of my completed scrapbook picture albums inside.  Being able to store my completed albums inside the Mission Storage Bench allowed me to open up so much more space on my book shelves for picture frames, trinkets and well, books!

With 15 completed scrapbook albums in the bench (and room for more), the Mission Storage Bench is very sturdy and the bottom doesn't give under the weight, at all.  I am very impressed with the durability and overall look of the Mission Storage Bench.

The Dimensions of the Mission Storage Bench from Target.com are: 19Hx43Wx20D.

The Mission Storage Bench was very easy to assemble (I asked my husband) and he had it finished in about 30 minutes.  The directions were very clear and easy-to-follow.

The only negative aspect about the Mission Storage Bench is that I noticed it is only available on Target.com and not in stores?  I have no idea why.  The price is stellar at only $69.00 but the shipping price for me was $37.00!  Half the buying price!  I wanted it so bad, I had to tell myself that the reason the price was so low was because of the high shipping price due to the weight of the Mission Storage Bench.

When decorating your home on a budget, check out Target or Target.com, you'll be surprised at what you might find in your price range!

I may be the friend that Gigi was referring to. I have a mission bench with wicker baskets beneath the bench and as people enter the mudroom they deposit flip-flops, sandals, etc. into the baskets. If they are neat and tidy then they get to come thru the entryway in the foyer and we don't make them take their shoes off ;+) We also have something similar to this in our poolhouse for keeping up with flip-flops and watershoes.

I want to get one of these! Do you think you'll be tired of it in a few months so that I can buy it off of you? ;)

I have a friend that got a mission bench from World Market. Hers has little pull-out wicker baskets under the bench that she stores shoes and stuff in. As the family comes into the entryway they deposit tennies and flip-flops into the bins.

I have been tempted to get myself one to go with my farmers table in the kitchen. There is a bench that goes with the table but I keep it in the large guestroom for the children to sit on when playing video games.

looks nice. I buy a lot of furniture for target.com, it's a shame you can't check them out first but I've had good luck on most the things I purchased from there.
