British Author/Ilustrator Beatrix Potter, the creator of Peter Rabbit, is one of most beloved children's authors of all time. Set during the Victorian era, the 2007 biopic, Miss Potter, tells the story of her growth from a lonely spinster, struggling to find a publisher, to a wealthy, independent woman and conservationist. The story opens with Miss Potter's (Renee Zellwegger) attempts to establish herself as a writer and illustrator, despite a lack of support from her harsh mother, and encouraging but  dismissive father. Miss Potter's search for a publisher leads her to a small, family...

Have you heard the tale about Flopsy, Mobsy, Cotton-tail and Peter Rabbit?  Most people have, but they don't know how one stubborn, single English woman brought them all to life.  The life and loves of Miss Beatrix Potter (Renee Zellweger) are shown as she strives to get her little children's book published in 1902.  The flashbacks of her life show how several of her best loved stories came to be, whether it was a story to herself, or to her younger brother.  Miss Potter, with the help of her animal frineds, brought the stories and characters to life for anyone willing to listen to them. ...

Miss Potter is the wonderful story of Beatrix Potter, the beloved children's author of the Peter Rabbit stories.  Renee' Zellweger (Chicago, Bridget Jones' Diary, Jerry Maguire) stars as Potter.  Zellweger brings her charisma to this role.  One cannot take one's eyes off her.  The movie opens with her living as a spinster in her wealthy parents' household.  To all appearances, she will remain there, taking care of her aging parents.  There are flashbacks throughout the film of her childhood revealing her early interest in animals and drawing.  In 1902, she tries to get her first story published. ...

Miss Potter was (one of the) movies I watched a few weeks on our long flight home. I was the only member of our family interested in watching this movie, so watching it myself was easily accomplished this way. I had been mildly interested in Beatrix Potter, the subject of this movie, since we had visited the breathtaking Lakes District in England two years ago. Beatrix Potter actually used to live in this wonderful area. She is most well-known as the author of "The Adventures of Peter Rabbit", "Benjamin Bunny" among other children's stories. Renee Zellweger plays the title role and is quite...

This movie was romantic but also based on real life and I loved that!  I was so interested and loved every minute of this movie!  I would watch it over and over!  It was also very clean and very classy!  Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger are fabulous in this movie!  The movie does have a bit of a sadness to it but it doesn't affect how wonderful the movie is altogether!

This movie was very interesting.  I never realized that Beatrix Potter had had such a sad life.  Her family didn't really think much of her and did not encourage her magnificent talent.  She was disappointed in love at least once and lived alone much of her life.  Her artistic genius has left the world a better place and I guess in hind sight most true artists do their best work not only in spite of but because of their personal struggles. I am thankful to Miss Zellweger for her insite in bringing this story to the big screen.  She has truely brought Beatrix Potter to life for us all and... review »
