Have you heard the tale about Flopsy, Mobsy, Cotton-tail and Peter Rabbit? Most people have, but they don't know how one stubborn, single English woman brought them all to life. The life and loves of Miss Beatrix Potter (Renee Zellweger) are shown as she strives to get her little children's book published in 1902. The flashbacks of her life show how several of her best loved stories came to be, whether it was a story to herself, or to her younger brother. Miss Potter, with the help of her animal frineds, brought the stories and characters to life for anyone willing to listen to them. After falling in love with her publisher, Noram Warne (Ewan McGregor), they were sure to be a great team in the field of children's literature.
Wonderful story, based on the life of Beatrix Potter. Her first love was her animals which included Peter Rabbit. The animation of some of her drawings, the converstations she had with them made the story so endearing and showed the love she had for her chosen work as author and illustrator. In the beginning of the movie, I was concerned Renee Zellweger's English accent would be distracting, far from it, then the story took me over. I consider this one of the most heartwarming, beautifuly written, superbly directed, and amazingly acted period piece I have ever seen. I would be happy to recommend this movie to anyone and everyone (which I have already started doing). This is a 2006 film, rated as PG and runs about 1 1/2 hours long, but goes by so fast. I hope if you decide to see this, you enjoy it as much as I have.
