I have 5 tattoo's and love to draw up idea's and turn them into body art. What tattoo's do you have and why did you get them? Here are mine:

First one: A black outline of a butterfly on my right foot. I got it because it was a birthday present from my husband...he blindfolded me and took me to a tattoo shop because I was to scared to do it on my own.

Second One: A dragon fly that wraps around my left ankle. I drew this up and loved it so much I had to put it on myself and everyone comments me on it.

Third one: A chinese symbol on my left wrist that says Mother that I hate and will cover up one day. I got it on impulse and some scary big hugggeee biker man gave it to me.

Fouth one: A very large black dragon on my inner arm from wrist to elbow. My husband has the matching one on his leg. We didn't want to get each others names because then we would most likely get a divorce lmfao like everyone does.

Fifth one: A shoulder to Shoulder tattoo of whispy lines and stars on my upper back, stars are red the rest is black. I got this one because I'm not that girly and I wanted a girly looking tattoo and this was the best I could draw up.

I have three.

1. A black & gray dragon on the outside of my right ankle.  I just like dragons and this is my favorite of all of my tattoos.

2. A purple Gerbera daisy.  This was my first tattoo, naturally I got a flower :)  It's on the inside of my right ankle.

3. A sun that is all black on the outside of my left ankle.  It's actually the Godsmack sun, not because I am into Godsmack, but because it was the exact sun I was looking for.

I got all of my tattoos on my ankles because the skin down there is taut and will be for a long time.  I would love a couple more, but the hubby said no :(

My daughter has one. She's now 29. I went with her when she got the first one on her lower back. It was going to be an atom (as in science) with the symbol of doctor inside but they couldn't fit the symbol in so she went with a moon and stars. She recently expanded it and added more stars to the sides. She is a doctor! with a pierced tongue.

I only have one so far. I got it over the summer and I'm already anxious to get at least one more.  Just have to decide what to get.  I know I want a treble clef somewhere but I'd also like to get my Buggheart logo and a pumpkin so I'm not sure which next and where I'd put it.  The one I have now is on my left calf and it's 4 cat foot prints.

I have every intention - and have for a long time - of getting a small hummingbird on the inside of my wrist. If I'm going to get a tat at my age, I might as well have it where the world can see it. The reason I never did it before was because my husband hated the idea but I have decided that it is my body and my life and hummingbirds mean something very special to me and I'm getting it done. Now I have to be sure I go somewhere clean and that will do it the way I want.

No tats here- The only tattoo I have ever considered is the permanent eyeliner or eyebrow tat. I will never get one though.

I have five: they all have stars and four of them have moons - these symbols are the only ones I can honestly say I would want on me permanently. People always say you'll hate tattoos after a while so I got one on my stomach (medium sized) when I was 19 to see if I would hate it later. I gained and lost 100 lbs and I still loved it 16 years later so I got four more in two years, I got the last one on the top of my foot four weeks ago.

It is totally my favorite. It is a moon with ivy around it and a star. Let me tell you - tattoos on your foot are not for the faint of heart and you can't wear shoes or walk properly for a while, so I would consider that location carefully!!!

I have a full moon with a lasso around it and some stars too on my right boob and some stars and like a swirly design the artist came up with in texas on the left one.

I have a yellow/red star on the inside of my right wrist with black wings. I purposely didn't want that one to be girly. I got that last January and it was the first one people could see, and now I have the foot one.

I am going home for Thanksgiving. I guess dear ol' dad is old enough now to know his daughter started getting inked up 17 years ago. Even though I am 36 years old, I know I am going to get a talking to! lol Mister doesn't care how many I get.

Well I want to get a tatoo of the Endless Knot (my son already has it tatooed on his arm) and have wanted to do it for a while but I have concerns.  I'm 58 years old.

Firstly, because of my age and the accompanying loss of skin elasticity, I wonder has my canvass become too old for skin art?

Secondly, I had wanted to have it put on my hand or wrist and my kids tell me this is a bad thing - that it will be very painful and/or will fade quickly because of hand washing.

Lastly, son's version of this tatoo is 4 or 5 inches in length but I would want mine to be only an inch or two.  Can detail be maintained on my smaller version?

They are all painful... it's a bunch of tiny puncture wounds with ink stuck in. The more sun it gets, the more it will fade, but the quality of the studio is also a factor. Don't cheap out on body art! Also - tip the artist for a job well done!

Thanks for the tips. I know a good tat place and several friends have said it is THE place to go. My sister and I want to go together and have said it for years but we WILL do it! My brother in law has several tats and the last one he got was from some guy in a truck outside of a bar. The guy spelled the name (Jenni for his granddaughter wrong (Jinne!!) and made a crazy heart. It is awful. But it didn't get infected or anything. Just looks absolutely terrible.

I want a small, pretty little hummingbird and pain is not a concern. I have a very high pain tolerance. I just don't wanna die of a blood infection but no one ever had an issues at the tat place I am considering.

Patty-

Usually if the tattoo is done in a sanitary way, the tattoo gets infected afterwards when people care for them improperly. It takes a while for them to heal, and letting them get infected or scabbing over can ruin the art. But yeah, it's an open wound with a large surface area, so if you don't watch it, you could get a dangerous infection.

Always go to a reputable artist.Sometimes artist like thet reuse needles and you can contract hepatitis c and Aids from them so always eb very careful and ask to see his portfolio.I always do and i always make sure the needles come straight from a new package.

I worked with a guy who had his wife's name tatooed on his arm. Then they had a child, so of course, the child's name was put on there too. Second child, the same thing. They had a third child, and the father had outgrown tatoos by then, didn't really want to get another one. But when the child started to talk, sure enough, he asked, "Daddy, why isn't my name on your arm?" Back to the tatoo parlor!

Personally, I don't have any tatoos. I get tired of pictures on the wall, so I don't think I'd want anything permanent inked on my body!

I dont have one and probably would not get one, but I do think they are very sexy. Its not just the needles you have to worry about it is also the ink. Blood can mix in the ink through the gun so you have to make sure the ink is also new.

My BFF has 2 tatoos and she is no longer able to donate blood due to them. Some rare blood disease that she got from the ink. She is fine but she cant donate blood.

Your Welcome for the tips. Your choice for tat is cool. I've always wanted one of those too or a dragonfly. If you do make it there to the parlor just follow the directions that they give you on how to take care of it.Keep it cover and put on it triple antibiotic ointment to keep the germs out and to let it heal. And just follow all the other good tips people are giving out and you should be ok. Good luck.
