I bought Sirius Satellite for my husband for Christmas 2 years ago because he's a fan of Howard Stern and it's turned out to be the most used present ever. He was hooked instantly. No matter what your mood, you can always find something you want to hear. I also love that you get to hear songs and bands that you would never hear on traditional radio. The only draw back is there's a lot of trees around our house so it can be difficult to get a signal sometimes. However, I rarely lose signal in my car and couldn't imagine going back to regular radio. I absolutely LOVE… read full review »

Cirque Du Soleil - Saltimbanco

Cirque Du Soleil - Saltimbanco
Loves to try new things, Enjoys live entertainment

JUL

Based in Montreal, Canada, Cirque Du Soleil has travelled all over the world. Today Las Vegas showcases one Cirque Du Soleil troupe, while another, the signiture show called Saltimbanco, travels to cities across the US and Canada. — — It's a combination of Dr. Seuss meets Ringling Brothers meets the Olympics meets Charlie Chaplin. Before the show even starts, you'll enter into a surreal world filled with a mysterious language and humor. The troupe filters through the audience (namely the highest dollar seats) and interacts with the audience members. — — A few… read full review »

Madonna

Madonna

JUL

ALLOT of things can be said about Madonna as we all know very well ( Brittany kisser, Cabala queen, rumors of divorce, A-Rod, Rodman etc....) and she is not known for being the world's greatest singer. Let's not even get started on her painful attempts at acting (I could name a few movies but I will just say one word....SWEPT AWAY).  Above all the thing that can be said most is this fact: she has managed to keep her finger on the pulse of the music world and in the public eye ever since her breakout 80's days. As I look back on… read full review »

Human Flute Master

All through out middle and high school I played the flute. I was taught how to play the flute in seventh grade. I was inspired by the "Human Flute Master." Mark  Anthony Caldwell purses his lips together to mimic the sound of a flute or piccolo. He plays anything from R&B to country..........you name it he plays it. I enjoy listening to the soft sounds of a flute or piccolo especially when I can hear what ever I want to hear through his sensational whistle. If you are a flute fan or enjoy listening to anything from classical to Jazz the flute Master is where its at. He has been… read full review »

I am a music LOVER. Across all genres and have been more than frustrated with the choices on the dial for longer than I can remember. With Sirius, you have the ability to choose from all types of music and talk when you want it. With my personal tastes that run from indie to old school hip hop, and big band sounds and everything in between, all I have to do is push a button. No commercials, and no stupid schtick.Plus I hear songs that I will never hear on "real" radio. Old favorites and new bands. I tell you,  my life has been made much better by Sirius radio. For sure.… read full review »

Variety Hits FM Radio Stations

Variety Hits FM Radio Stations

MAY

2008
Whether you call it Bob, Jack, Dave, Mike or (Insert male name here) the "Variety Hits" format is by the best way to enjoy FM radio!! — Where I live now, we have Bob FM. I just moved from a city that had Dave FM. I am sure glad I didn't have to lose my favorite station! It's almost like listening to my personal MP3 player ... all the songs I love from the 70's-90's  with a high concentration of 80's that is my ultimate favorite! (I am a Gen Xer after all) — No annoying DJ's with their inappropriate "humor" ... just really great music (with a with commercial breaks to pay the… read full review »

Santa Fe Opera

Santa Fe Opera
into jazz, a classic music fan, a man, a creative, a writer

MAY

Granted, it is an acquired taste. — — No, that's an understatement. Opera has been part of more jokes than the line, "a-man-walks-into-a-bar".If you got this far into this review, even with the subject line, I'm going to assume opera is not a total turn-off for you. — I must confess to having an affinity for classical music and theater. Yet, I have caught my own head in mid-nod during more than one aria. — Not this night. Not at the Santa Fe Opera. — We purchased seats in the nose-bleed section, aka, the cheap seats. Some may say that $56 per is not cheap. … read full review »

"Other" versions of popular songs

"Other" versions of popular songs
into jazz, a classic music fan, varied tastes

APR

2008
Have you ever heard a familiar song on the radio and realized you know the tune, you know the lyrics, but you have no idea who's singing, because it's a different version than the one you're familiar with? Maybe it's a cover verson of one of your favorite songs. Or maybe, just maybe, the version you know is actually a cover of an even earlier original. Sometimes the more obscure version of a popular tune is as good as - or even much better than - the version that gets airplay. — This is my list of "other" versions of popular songs that are even better than the versions most people… read full review »

From NPR, Howard Stern and a huge assortment of music, it is hard to impagine listing to regular radio again. In NYC there are a few brief interumptions of service while driving butalmost none compared to commercials which also interupt service. — Get the portable ones that you can carry in your pocket or attach to your car.  No need to be without it wherever you are. — … read full review »

First of all you know what channel your listening to. You don't need a DJ to come on at the end of every song and say "Your Listening to the Big 80's". Sirius would be way better off if they just randomly played music and fired all the DJ's. Besides that point when you hear some of the same artists over and over again its obvious the DJ is playing their personnal taste in music. I tried complaining to their service department but didn't get a response back.I think I will just stick with my ipod and pick my own music and randomly play it. I believe the DJ's are the main cause for the stock… read full review »

Jill Scott-The Real Thing Tour 2008

Jill Scott-The Real Thing Tour 2008
concert-goer, a fan of good music, a music lover with vast tastes

MAR

2008
I have a love hate relationship with concerts....once I get there I am ready to leave....sad fact but true. There are some concerts however that I will gladly brave through hurting feet (from dress shoes...lol) for and when I heard that Jill Scott's tour was making it's way to my town I was ready well in advance! — Before I get to the main reason for this review lets deal with the opening act Raheem DeVaughn. I was rather less than kind to his latest CD in a review I wrote and when I heard that he was the opener I said "well....I don't mind being late" but when you are with a… read full review »
