La Crosse Technology - Atomic Wall Clock

La Crosse Technology - Atomic Wall Clock
practical, quality conscious

JUL

2008
As much as I hate Wal-Mart...this is where I found it.  I originally bought it for my Mom when she was in a nursing home.  They didn't even have a clock on the wall in her room.  She complained that sometimes she didn't even know what day it was. It's sad when your parents start slipping away. :(  — The directions are a little confusing at first.  But, once it's set, you need not fool with it again until the batteries go dead.  When you're setting the clock, even if it's only one minute off, it will pick up the government time signal in the middle of… read full review »

Headplay - Personal Cinema System

Headplay's Personal Cinema System consists of a visor and liberator. The visor is what you view with and the liberator is the brains of the operation. The visor displays a virtual 52-inch TV. With the Personal Cinema System you can watch movies, play games, and surf the net. The PCS can connect to xBox, PlayStation, DVD Players, iPods, and PC's. — — I got to use this system a couple of weeks ago and the image was amazing. I have a 52-inch screen TV at home and the image was exactly the same. I can see this system being great for traveling with kids. Their are no… read full review »

Amazon - Kindle

Amazon - Kindle

The Amazon Kindle is a revolutionary device.  I have long been a believer that eventually books would go digital.  I even bought a Rocket Book years ago. But the Amazon Kindle is different, and better and is a sign of a changing world. — Much has been written about the Kindle, so rather the write an entire review, I will just let you know what I like about it: — 1) The lightweight form factor is very holdable. — 2) The screen is clear, crisp and quite readable.  It is not as good as a laptop but might even be better for your eyes over long periods of… read full review »

Homedics - Sound Spa Lullaby Relaxation Machine

Homedics - Sound Spa Lullaby Relaxation Machine
practical, picking up after pets, hate to waste money, a home owner

JUN

This little machine has proven invaluable to my family.  The sound spa has 6 different sounds, heartbeat, rain, stream, white noise, ocean and summer night. There is a volume control and a timer for up to an hour if you want it to turn off on its own. You can plug it in or use batteries. The design is simple and plain and very easy to use, very straightforward. — I use this in my bedroom to help block the noise of my husbands snoring, and outside noises. My 2 children each have one and they really help the kids sleep through the night. They like the white noise setting, but i have… read full review »

These batteries are priced good, not too high. They work great for battery powered toys unless they are remote control. I think these batteries are are not very good for digital cameras, they do not last very long in them. If you need batteries for toys clocks, or something like that then they are great. —… read full review »

The Led rechargeable booklight from Brookstone is good... but leaves one wanting more... the led light somewhat shines into your eyes, but does a generally good job lighting up the pages.  The book clip is somewhat lacking in that it does not hold a lot of pages.  However, it does the… read full review »

Digital Concepts - DVD-150R 75W Power Inverter

Digital Concepts - DVD-150R 75W Power Inverter
a techie, thrifty, a gadget geek

APR

2008
I love gadgets and find that I have a need to run some of my gadgety stuff in the car. Most of the things I want to run have batteries, but that means that batteries need to be charged regularly. Better still, if I can operate some things directly from standard AC power, I will get better performance and not have to worry about the batteries running down. Thus my quest for a power inverter that could operate my laptop computer in a car. My first stop in this quest was the DVD-150R 75W Power Inverter, which sold at Wal-Mart for a mere $15. — — What it is — — First… read full review »

2008
Having a regular need for batteries in lots of things, an eye for bargains and a frequent need for batteries, I got a 20 pack of Ray-O-Vac AAA batteries. I was encouraged by the money back guarantee and the fact that the package reported that they tested as well or better than the competitors. — — Don't you believe it. — — I put a new set of these in my two wireless microphones. They failed halfway through a set I was recording. I had to switch to the stationery mikes to rescue the gig, which was being recorded. — — Well, I still had a bunch of these… read full review »

Chicago Electric - AA Rechargeable Ni-Cad Battery -4 Pack

Chicago Electric - AA Rechargeable Ni-Cad Battery -4 Pack
looking for durability, loving this product, impressed with this product

We all have gadgets around the house that use batteries and they don't last very long until they need replaced. However some of us use rechargeable batteries as we know it saves us money in the long run. I go through a lot myself with my Solar Powered Lights, Wireless Remotes for the TV, Game systems and Flashlights. So I need to replace mine about once every 18 months and they don't come cheap. So when I saw these at Harbor Freight I decided to give them a try as they are much less expensive than the Big Brands out there. — — Chicago Electric AA Ni-Cad Rechargeable… read full review »

If there is one single most useless technological innovation of our day, it must be the e-book. The only thing more puzzling than the inability of big companies to understand why the consumer market ignores e-books, is that they keep flushing money down the toilet trying to make a better e-book reader. — — Fact is that e-books are basically a niche product. The only thing useful they do is to store lots of information that people don't want to read for those very rare occasions when they need to read just one little tiny bit of it. For an aircraft mechanic, having the entire… read full review »

This line of batteries is perfect for a variety of electronics and allows for long lasting power. Forget about these batteries not meeting up to expectations. Some batteries are bought new and after slight use they are no longer able to be used because they run out of energy so fast, but these energizer's take care of that problem and leave you in awe of their efficiency. These batteries are highly recommened because of durability, reliability, and sustainability.… read full review »
